had scan on 6th July. after many phone calls and forever listening to messages and options finally found out that my results had been sent to my GP. As I was ordering my repeats on patient access put a note on the bottom asking someone to tell me the outcome, within an hour had a call to say they had now got results and a doc would ring that afternoon. When the doc rang he told me they had them on 10th August, I’ve never heard of this doc before, he read all the results to me and basically nothing had changed. What a relief. This is now 22nd August, my consultant always saw me every 6 months but unfortunately for me retired in January and hasn’t been replaced it’s gone down hill since. This is a brief version of how hard it’s been in the DIY nhs system. It’s no fun having liver cancer let alone been left in the dark to worry about it. The good news is I can have a new pair of slippers for Christmas.

Dear oap74
We facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers). Our next Liver cancer group is Tuesday 29th at 5.30pm.
If you would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here: britishlivertrust.org.uk/vi...
If you would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
Best wishes

It certainly feel like a DIY healthcare system at times. I’m loving your new slippers tho - how fantastic!!!
I’m glad you got your results. It might be worth speaking to your old consultants secretary. They can probably tell you what’s going on with consultants and get you seen by a good one.
Thanks fortunately I’m still in contact with Dr Shah at QE Birmingham and get 6 monthly telephone calls. He was going to transfer me to my hospital permanently but I asked to keep in contact and he agreed immediately. They are excellent am I glad I did. All the best and thanks for your response.
