Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get results of an mri? I had an MRI and MRCP of my pancreas on Monday as a week before the USS showed a pancreatic cyst. (The USS was for my liver so the panc cyst was an incidental finding)
They said 7-10 days but do they tell u sooner if its something bad? Also, those who have been diagnosed with cirrohis how long after a scan do they tend to tell u?
Hate waiting for results
I am in the US but I just had an MRI in Nov. And the results came back about 24 hours later by patient portal. The MRI people said 2 busines days. If I were you I would call the doctor that sent you for it and ask them what the results were. It has been my experience that they do call if it's bad news. Nevertheless, you have waited the appropriate amount of time. Give them a call.

It can take up to two weeks maybe longer.... the images of the mri have to go to a radiologist to be reported on first then if need be the images and findings may need to be discussed at something called an MDT meeting. Then the results will be sent back to the person who requested the scan.
The waiting is just horrible 😫

I am in exactly the same boat as you are Daisy, I had my MRCP on Monday too, at Kings - I’m trying not to worry, but as my dad died of pancreatic cancer obviously I have my concerns 🤞 for us xx
I really hope its nothing to worry about for u 🤞I had a call from the hospital today saying I have an appointment next wed with the consultant. Was your MRCP just routine due to your family history or do u have symptoms? X I am so sorry about your dad, it is a cruel disease 😔
Hi when I was having my scans in relation 2 my liver they picked up a very small cyst on my pancreas so every year they send me 4 a scan at local hospital 2 c whether it has grown. Last year I waited over 3 months 2 get results and had 2 chase them up this year it's been the same waited 7 weeks rang them and yes had results back but Dr hadn't looked at them wasn't happy so finally his secretary rang and said she was going to send them over to st James so they could look at them. I am a worrier so until I get them back I tend to panic. Luckily secretary rang yesterday 2 say Dr had looked at them while having his lunch lol and no change. Shudnt have 2 have all this stress although I realise things have changed due to covid. Good luck and stay safe
