I have an upcoming follow up liver ultrasound and noticed on past and current order that it says unspecified hepatic cirrhosis type without ascites.Im just curious if I have cirrhosis why wouldn't they know the type.mine came from alcohol.

Maybe they are just reducing stigma, keeping it to need to know. Cirrhosis is cirrhosis so an ultrasound operator doesn't really need to know your underlying cause although my hubbies consultant in his reason for request of ultrasound always orders is as hubby having 'auto immune cirrhosis'.

You could always ask at your next appointment.

Appreciate your response! Gives me a better understanding I never asked about it because it's on the document for appointment that's why I assumed Drs. weren't sure themselves.

It all ends in cirrhosis at some point. They are always vague. Those Scanning operatives just scan. I tell them and then ask questions.
