So glad you love the NSH, everyone should love their healthcare if they are getting scans and not waiting, seeing a doctor when ever they want and choosing a doctor they want and firing the doctors they don't want. Most in America that are poor use something similar to the NHS which is medicaid, and their liver transplant is almost free. The large cost (private ins.) for a transplant isn't what the person pays out of pocket but the total cost of the surgery/meds and aftercare ,most with private insurance pays 20% of the cost and insurance pics up 80%, with private insurance comes excellent care and selecting the doctor you want and firing the ones you don't want, having private insurance is similar to other countries that chooses to go private due to not getting a scan in a timely manner or not getting a return phone call from their doc's office.

I do not 'love' the NHS but I think it maybe one of the least worst alternatives. The health system I would prefer would be the German hybrid system with a compulsory health tarriff administered by the state and services provided by private HMOs.Ironically it was designed by us after ww2

Sorry, you don't love your healthcare and maybe one day you will get the healthcare you desire. I love the care i receive from my team of doc's.

Good for you I appreciate my healthcare but 'love' is not a word I would use.

I had a liver transplant almost 10 years ago. I had private healthcare at the time which literally amounted to a private ward for the initial tests, although over a week. I got a bigger telly than on the ward.

Once I was a candidate for a liver transplant no special treatment. I was operated on by the NHS, my ward was NHS because thats where all the experts are. There are no private ICU units.

The treatment I got was incredible. I've never felt in safer hands.

We need to protect the NHS.

My transplant took about 6 hours, and there were at least 15 very professional people in theatre, my stay in hospital was 10 day's. The estimated cost was £50k.

$500,000 thats outrageous
