I’m surprised you have been able to do that level of excerise with decompensated cirrhosis. I can barely walk for 20 mins! Good on you and welcome here.
Talk to your hepatologist/medical team about this because you need to find out why the sudden change. They are the only ones who can try and find out what is going on with your condition.
Best of luck.
It's probably a bit of both, lol. However, if its a relatively new thing then it is worth getting checked out. Feeling tired and lacking energy is common with cirrhosis. However, other things can cause this too. So I think my first port of call would be a quick visit to the gp, get a blood test just to make sure nothing is too far out of kilter that could make you feel a bit less energetic than normal.
Fatigue was the hardest part for me. I had to lessen my activities but I never stopped trying. Hope this improves for you. Definitely bring this to the attention of your medical team.
Ive just come out of hospital with the same diagnosis , decompensated , but was working 12 hours a day on the same intensity as I was 20 years ago , except for the odd ache and pain , waiting to see my consultant now as I was hospitalised at the other end of the country , ive been given a score of B9 but feel like nothing is wrong with me , the only giveaway was slight oedema on both ankles , which I was given a water tablet for , which have ran their course and the swelling has not returned.
Can I add my admiration for your activity levels? I get the impression fatigue is highly variable among those of us with cirrhosis - perhaps how each of us ended up here makes a difference - it sounds like you have been starting from a high baseline of activity and energy.
After 3.5 years total abstinence and becoming compensated, I am still easily tired, often need afternoon naps and experience a lot of weakness etc (getting HE treated was a major improvement in many elements of daily living). My hepatologist (who gets the pleasure of my company later today) tells me that as I am compensated and my bloods are OK, there is nothing physically wrong with me (apart from cirrhosis!) so the cause is something else. So I don't raise it any more. Are they missing or neglecting an issue, if so many experience these effects?
I wish there was an answer other than 'keep asking'
Good luck!
I would avoid heavy lifting because it might rupture and cause a bleed. I did a long walk on Friday exhausted me. This is because I have no energy storage.
