Hubby has finally an assessment appointment on the 6 april with Edinburgh Royal. Just looking for a wee bit of a heads up of what to expect on the day. What will they ask or do and is it an all day thing.

Transplant assessment looming
If this is his first appointment at Edinburgh the first t/p clinic appointment is usually just a fact finding consultation. When my hubby first went it was a chat, bloods and we also asked about and saw a dietician. It was a while later that hubby went for assessment which involved a 4 day inpatient stay - I detailed the 4 days in one my posts. healthunlocked.com/britishl...
Best wishes

Thank you for the incite this has helped alot. We know what to expect now. This is his first appointment so I take it will just be chatting etc as you said then the 4 days assessment and hopefully he gets listed. Fingers crossed 🤞
I think the assessment has now gone to 5 days at Edinburgh. My hubby was listed but actually got delisted 10 months later when his condition improved. He is still under one of the consultants through in Edinburgh but not now in the t/p clinic.
Best wishes for the initial appointment - my hubby was under the transplant unit for a year before they put him forward for assessment. Obviously if they feel your hubby requires assessment soon then they will make arrangements to admit him for the full assessment.

Thank you. He has been in and out of hospital since August currently in hospital just now recovering from sepsis now, he's had varical bleeding, hemmoraging, ascites and hepatic enclopathy in the past so he really does need one. He tends to be ok for around a fortnight when discharged then ends up back in.
Hopefully you'll get arrangements for assessment soon then based on that. Do Edinburgh know he is currently in hospital with such serious symptoms? Sometimes they will do a hospital transfer.
To be honest I'm not sure if Edinburgh know he is in but I showed the appointment letter to his consultant when it came in last week and she didn't say if they knew or not its something i should ask. His infection markers have come down from the sepsis but his billirubin is still very high 430 something and that's what they want to come down before he can be discharged they said but in all honesty I think they might keep him in till his appointment then take him from there.
I would be tempted to ask because he'd probably be better off as an inpatient in Edinburgh now and potentially speed things along. Especially if they are talking about not discharging him yet. Thursday 6th April appointment is unlikely to be assessment - just the touching base appointment. Admission for assessment is usually Monday.
Ask the question.
