Had tinnitus and bad headache when waking for about a year which recedes slowly when erect,I have cirrhosis with usual side crap.It seems ammonia from cirrhosis has capability to cross the blood/csf barrier in the brain which can lead to a plethora of symptoms which I think will remain largely unfathomable and may well affect ear.As in modern computer programming were glitches arise and in some cases not solved but circumvented neuro science can only narrow possibilities (may well)in doctor speak, not pin them down.

Hi, do you take lactulose and rifaximin? Tinnitus can be one of the symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy. I have the same problem. Perhaps proper treatment of hepatic encephalopathy may help to partially reduce tinnitus. Some studies have also shown an association between tinnitus and low levels of vitamin B12 in the body. Have you had your B12 levels checked?
This has already been discussed on the forum. Here is the link.
as above, HE is a well known symptom that can come with cirrhosis. Once your brain begins being effectively being poisoned, anything can happen really. I would discuss with your liver doc asap. Obviously however, tinnitus has many causes so may not be related, other issues/illness are available.
