When did you first notice Ascites

For those with Ascites when did you notice it? Like did it start slow, did you notice your abdomen getting larger then think no maybe I just gained weight?

It started stlowy for me, tops tighter etc, but over a short period of time it grew very quickly.

It seemed to pick up speed.

Intense pain at 3am one day, went to A&E (or the Emergency Room across the pond), was diagnosed within a few hours and spent 16 days in hospital from there. At its worse it was akin to someone stabbing my in the lower abdomen with a sharp needle, untouchable by codeine phosphate at the time was upped to dihydrocodeine soon after plus a host of other tablets.
