Hubby update Jan2023

Hubby is still off of the booze, it’s now been just over 18mths.

Hubby has put on a lot of weight. He was 8st 1llb when he was admitted to hospital in June 2021. He now weighs 11st 12llbs. His stomach looks like his previous beer belly again. Hubby is convinced it is not food though and is worried something else is going on.

Over the past month or so hubby has started having to rush to the toilet about an hour after he has eaten. All good seems to be going straight through him. It is normally diarrhoea and sometimes only just gets to the toilet in time.

So last week we contacted the hepatology team. A specialist called hubby and agrees something is not right. So today hubby has a triple phase CT scan and 30/01/2023 he has a camera booked to have a look at what is going on with his bowel, etc.

Hopefully they will work out what is going on over the next couple of weeks, as it is really starting to get hubby down

Hi I had my stomach being big I was looking like being 9 months pregnant and it was very sore when I was trying to get some sleep I am on water tablets and I don't have it as long as I take my tablets .

first of all congratulations on making 18 months that’s awesome and hubby should be proud of himself and you should be proud of him 👏👍. I put on some weight when I gave up the booze but please make sure it’s not ascites, but it sounds like the doctors have it under control with all the tests they are going to do. I hope the news is good! Please know many people who have an alcohol problem replace alcohol with another "treat" - which is often a sweet snack. There is even a name for this phenomena but it is not coming to me now. I am not saying this is what is happening to him, just that is sometimes happens.
