Antibiotics

Hello everyone. I have cirrhosis and have been prescribed some Doxycycline by my GP. After I investigated with them they weren’t sure if I can take these meds… They said they would speak to a consultant and get back to me. That won’t be till Wednesday at the earliest though. Has anyone had these antibiotics with my condition? TIA

Hi I have them as I have Asthma, COPD I am always given a rescue pack to help prevent hospital admission, I have Doxycycline and Prednisolone, hope this helps x

Hi Danz1 hope your doing OK. I have cirrhosis diagnosed 6yrs ago. Doxycycline made me extremely unwell. I have been given it twice both times after taking them it felt like my whole guts had just evacuated my body. Even though it states on my notes not to give me them because of the reaction I have to them they still try to prescribe them to me. Clarithromycin is the only antibiotic that is safe for me. I have asthma too. This is just my experience of them.
