I have been to many alcohol meeting lately and for one who does not drink much I have met people who have been drinking a bottle of scotch a day for years and they have been told to give up because that would be end of life for them I know all alcohol is bad for the liver but feel cheated as a fibroscan i had told me i have cirrhosis
liver cirrhosis: I have been to many... - British Liver Trust
liver cirrhosis
Sadly it's the luck of the draw Tim. Some people have a 'propensity' for liver damage no matter how little or much they've 'indulged'.
There are also a great many forum members where alcohol or life style choices have played zero roll in their liver damage including my hubby who nearly died from decompensated cirrhosis despite being life long t-total, fit, active generally healthy.

Hello fella. Understand what your saying, but I can remember my consultant saying ,Chris, some folk could be drinking 5 times what I was,and never develop cirrhosis, but I was 1 of the unlucky one's,. As she explained we are all made differently!!!.
We just have to make the best of it fella,as we can't go back.
Life continues, take care tim. My best. Chris
Hi tim.Yep .. can totally relate to what your saying.. I was a social drinker all my life ,hard working, never drank spirits just lager and maybe the odd sherry with my dear dad at Xmas..
Was only in the last few years of my abusive marriage that I could not cope mentally.. I became dependent on alcohol ,literally, I'd drink at 6am in the morning right through till midnight... totally hooked on the stuff but I may add only lager and cider yet never anything higher than 5%volume .. and I was dealt that 6 months left to live scenario in 2008 when everything just hit me physically... thankfully I had walked out of my marriage and was living with my dad for a while, he was my life saver ...
So as Katie and Chris pointed out some of us are not able to tolerate booze as some others can
Mind you I would rather have the life I have now than the awful addicted one I had many years ago.
Best wishes linda
I’ve never drank a lot - and I mean a couple of drinks a year until my mid 20s and none for last 30 years. I’ve never really liked alcohol. I’m now 54 and have cirrhosis. I have metabolic syndrome which has affected my liver, I have bile acid malabsorption and diabetes. And yet I was fit and slim for many years. Life just isn’t fair is it.
Hi Tim you may be feeling a bit sorry for yourself but just remember there is always someone worse off than you, thank who ever you look to and thank your lucky stars your alive 👍.
Stay safe All
