My GP diagnosed gallstones 4 weeks ago after I suffered an attack and referred me for a scan at my local hospital for confirmation. She told me to go to A&E if the attacks get unbearable. I am yet to heard from the hospital with a date for the scan. I'm getting 3 or 4 attacks a week. Shoulder blade pain, back pain and upper abdomen (middle and right). They always last an hour and are absolutely horrendously painful. I am determined not to go to A&E and am hoping that once I get the scan and it confirms gallstones then surgery will be imminent.
I follow a very strict low fat diet. I have lived on wholemeal bread, pasta and rice with chicken or fish for 4 weeks now. D
I drink plenty of water and eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. I've lost a stone in weight! However, I've reached the point where I am bored of the same old meals (and would do anything for some crisps and chocolate)!
Any nice meal suggestions? π

Hello, I've been listed for gallbladder removal as I've ended up at the hospital three times in the last month, and if via A&E it's a long wait.My attacks lasted for days, for some reason,it seems to get inflamed and has required antibiotics. I know what you mean by pain and I also got nausea. I have pain killers now, which helps when any pain or discomfort start, I reduce down meds when things settle down, have been given plenty of laxatives, to keep the coast clear if you know, what I mean.
I'm on muesli and oat drink, as well as med diet like yourself, I also avoid dairy, not easy love cheese at Christmas but certain nuts are ok according to webmed and nhs site. I have other conditions so have to wait for surgery. If your symptoms start to last longer than the few hours then tell docs, who can advise and may be able to bypass A&E
It's no fun having this anytime, but Christmas is the pits.
Hi have you not been seen by a dietitian if not try to get one they are very helpful, I know the pain it is horrendous but do try to stay away from the chocolate and chips as you will be very sorry. I do feel for you but wait for your doctor for help.
