Hi! I really can’t answer your question accurately as I’m not a medic, but I’d have thought that they might try removing the gallstones first as there are consequences to having your gallbladder removed? But I suppose it depends where exactly this ‘congenital sac’ is, and whether the stones are blocking a bile duct or not - as I think bile leaking into the liver can cause elevated GGT??? But as I said, I’m not a doctor - so hopefully they can put your mind at rest when they see you next. Good luck!
Hi, I have just had my gallbladder removed. I started over a year ago with an uncomfortable feeling on my upper right quadrant which I ignored for some time. It gradually got a lot worse and caused what I now know to be a gallbladder attack on xmas day. That’s when I sought advice. It took they drs a long time to diagnose me and passed it off as gastric for months until one great dr sent me for a scan and found multiple stones contained in the gallbladder. This was about 4 months later and by now the pain got steadily worse and was constant. Under my rib cage felt like a tennis ball was stuck and contracting, I had pain in my side and back and couldn’t sleep. Once I knew what it was I changed to a low fat diet which helped alot but didn’t make the pain go away. It’s also a miserable way to live. I am by no means unhealthy and eat a very good diet but the slightest bit of fat hurt. It took until September for it to be removed and I was down as urgent. I am 4 weeks in and so still have some post op pain. After a couple week I’ve found I can pretty much eat what I want now. None of the pain like I did get. I can’t really offer advice because I don’t know how you feel. All I can say is my pain progressively got worse to the point I was scared about my op but couldn’t wait because I was in so much pain.
Thankyou ,and was your gamma gt raised because of the gallstones ? Thst is the thing worrying ne the most. Hope your recovery goes well and all settles down.
Had an abscess on my gall spread to my liver. ALP and GGT off the scale, drained there was about a pint of puss. Very strong anti biotics and I am well. ALP 127 just under the limit, GGT as well. I had dye put through my gall and it drained normally, one small stone but I am not having my gall removed
