hi all. In my efforts to get healthier post alcohol I’ve taken up jogging and swimming. Once exercising I often get a tight painful abdomen which means I can’t keep up the jogging for long. It’s not so bad when swimming. Is this pain likely to be liver related? Has anyone else had this when exercising?

It's more likely to be just muscular in that you are using muscles that haven't been used in that way for sometime.
Keep up with your exercise, if jogging isn't working for you keep up with the swimming, walking or even cycling.
My hubby who does have cirrhosis never gets abdominal pain when exercising and he walks and cycles loads.

Are you sure it isn't just a stitch? Sounds like it could be, they're most common when running. I usually get one within the first few minutes of running, on the rare occasions I do run!
I also suffered from pain while excersising after I completely cheased alcohol intake. Don't know if it is muscolar or liver related, anyhow I remember I had pain during strenous efforts while swimming or cycling. It lasted for many months but now it seems to be completetly disappeared.
