My husband has a bad rash

Hi everyone I haven't posted for a while but always read others. My husband (64) had NASH cirrhosis and had a liver transplant in 2017, when they also found he had cancer of the liver. His new liver now has fatty deposits as his Diabetes seems out of control. He is trying a new diet and hopefully things are improving but he has had problems with it ever since the transplant. Yesterday he felt quite poorly and showed me a bad rash he has on his arm. His is continuously scratching. I remember him itching a lot before the transplant and am now concerned this means his new liver is showing problems. He is refusing to see a GP so not sure what to do.

Can this be a sign that his new liver is suffering and what can I do?

Any advice would be gratefully received

By the way his consultant has ordered a fibroscan in June - he has never had one of these.

Morning Kim, A fibroscan is nothing to worry about. They wheel the machine to wherever you are located. The rash is usually the medication and not the liver itself. I'm no expert and I don't have diabetes,if he won't go to see his GP then ring his liver team today and leave a message. When I do they usually ring back within the hour. All the best

Contact his coordinators either by phone or email, they will want to know of any changes in him, if they are concerned they will get him an appointment to see his transplant consultant.Hilary

Hi Kim,

Great advice from Hilary on this thread, we would suggest to contact the liver transplant coordinating team, they will hopefully be able to help. It is important that they know any new symptom.

Best wishes.
