Sorry more questions....

My GP isn't very good and hasn't given me much information. I had a scan on 16th Jan which diagnosed gallstones, which I expected but also fatty liver, which I wasn't expecting!

I haven't really been given much medical information and I've been told I need no further tests regarding my liver! I've sorted out my diet, I'm losing weight and creeping back towards my ideal BMI bracket (I'm about 1.5 stone overweight) I'm also exercising daily.....

Still I didn't feel satisfied so I requested a copy of my ultrasound report which was emailed over today. Please can someone tell me what they make of the fatty liver aspect.... Does it sound really bad? or mild? my blood tests are within normal limits.

Any advice would be really gratefully received.

Thank you

Basically just confirming fatty change in the liver and the gall stones. It isn't indicating anything more advanced than fatty liver which as we've discussed before is entirely reversible with your ongoing weight loss and exercise regime.

The only way you could get an accurate figure on % of the liver involved would be a fibroscan which can provide as CAP score for fatty liver and a kPa score for fibrosity but it doesn't look like your liver has progressed to that.

Keep up the healthy living regime and you'll reverse this.

Thank you so much. I was reading it that it isn't at a serious stage as my liver is normal size etc but I wanted to make sure that I was seeing it correctly. It just gives me more motivation to continue working hard and eating better.

As said in your previous threads on the subject - there is really nothing to panic about. I would consider gallstones more of an issue than a bit of extra fat on your liver that you have already reacted to. You will do more damage to yourself with this unwarranted anxiety rather than doing as others have advised :)

Thank you. I know but i suffer with awful anxiety anyway so it's hard to just not worry. I'm taking steps to deal with it though and talking about it and learning really helps me. I'm still waiting to see the surgeon regarding the gallstones.

Morning mrsd, they will probably remove your gallbladder and that is a straight forward process (in and out of hospital) I suffered really bad with gall stones, they removed mine with my transplant. I don't get discomfort from that area anymore. You are already working on the fatty liver 😊. You are moving forward and doing the right things. Try breathing exercises when you feel your anxiety coming on. All the best Danny x

Thank you so much. I really do need to work on my anxiety. I'm still waiting to see the surgical team regarding the gallstones. GP apparently did an urgent referral on 17th Jan, but still haven't heard anything yet. Hoping i'll have even more answers then.

I was diagnosed 16 years ago in my 30s with fatty liver and I have a couple of gallstones. My liver is larger then it should be. I’m on a statin and fenofibrate meds. I’ve not managed to reverse it (I have metabolic syndrome) but it’s not progressed in all these years to anything more sinister. I didn’t manage to lose weight etc, but that’s a different story. A lot of people do manage to reverse so don’t worry. Look after yourself.

Thankyou for sharing your experience. It's such a worrying time trying to get my head around and understand the diagnosis.

I was upset and worried when I had my results. My whole lipid profile (fats in blood) were sky high. Saw a liver consultant etc. I have regular bloods and scans to keep an eye on me. Just try to keep healthy, exercise etc.
