When is Ggt satisfactory not satisfactory

My dr said upon questioning how can bloods be satisfactory if they are the same that they have been consistent.

True

Then she said retest in a year. I said no not satisfactory to me. 3 months then well what’s the point of the blood tests if nothing is done about results.

So then she asks if I had been tested for Hepatitis as only Ggt high. At this point I thought keep calm

Your the Dr you tell me……

So off I go to get that done.

By ‘high’, what level of GGT do you refer to?

Hello High as in 70s, so I know it’s not in the 100s but still higher than it should be abs remains constant at this level.

I see. I’m similar in that mine was 105 (50-something male) as of March. I’m not a big drinker and scans barcodes k then showed a clear liver and bile ducts.

I get tested again for GGT level in the next fortnight, and pending the result, I’ve asked my GP to test me for ‘alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency’ as I also have bronchiectasis.

Unfortunately you have to be your own health advocate, and for me that means getting my bloods done every 2 months, that way i can say there you see. It was the only way I actually got to see a consultant to be told I have NASH. Other than that I would have kept going back and told oh yes in normal range. If something keeps popping up ie your GGT remians high over repeated bloods, then unless it has always been that way it indicates a problem area. GGTs can rise at anytime, depending on lifestyle, ie to much drink one weekend you can expect GGt's to be up, bad diet etc etc. But if your doing everything right then at least you have to proof for the Dr. GGT levels are not 100% specific to the liver, and often indicate a possible problem in the billinary system, gallbladder etc etc. Im not a Dr i have just spent months/years researching my own situation. Fibroscans are good too..but thats just my opinion.
