Covid vaccine and liver

Elenaevent profile image
37 Replies

I am only suggesting. But I feel pain in my liver a week after vaccination. It was first time (Astrazeneca), lasted for 6 weeks and it happened again after the second shot (Moderna). I see the pattern, it hurts and I don't know when it will end after the second shot. LFT s are high.

Any research on Covid vaccination and liver problems?

I had moderna vaccine 1 week before my most recent bloods , ( my previous LFT had come down ) these ones were elevated again , i did ask the question about the vaccine as i had been so ill for days after it but it was just brushed off

Here we go... may I ask you what the elevation was?

Hi. I have Cirrhosis - compensated, and have had the Astra Zeneca and both times I have felt absolutely fine.No problems whatsoever.

Exactly the same here, although I am decompensated. Good thing that came out of the jab was that for the first time in many years, my platelet count almost reached 100 lol. X

You must report any side effects

There is no place to report in Canada or there is one and it is impossible to find. My GP and Gastroenterologist are Well aware of my situation but all they do is nothing because they have no idea about correlation between vaccine and LFTs. They simply don't.

Why did they give you 2 different types of vaccine, you should have the same vaccine, if you get AstraZeneca the first time you should get it the second time. They don't give that vaccine in the USA, so I haven't heard any side effects.

Elenaevent profile image
Elenaevent in reply to sophiaS1980

Cause the government said Astrazeneca was not good enough. Didn't have supplies etc

sophiaS1980 profile image
sophiaS1980 in reply to Elenaevent

That's really sad they gave you different vaccines which this could be the problem. I did hear bad things about AstraZeneca but that was on TV from other countries because they won't give it to Americans. Hope you get better.

Thank you.... vaccine is soon political. I am even afraid to discuss it...

Yes it is, we have so much cov 19 vaccine her in America but so many ppl that supported the last administration won't take it, the vaccine is at every store you walk in, and now our government offering money and gifts to take the vaccine, but ppl still won't take it but the orange man they supported took it. I had Pfizer with very little side effects (sore arm).

in reply to sophiaS1980

No problems with AZ . There was a report saying there could be a miniscule possibility it has caused blood clots in a few people who already had underlying health issues. It is not essential that you receive the same vaccine both times and there is no proof it causes any more long term side effects than if you receive the same vaccine each time.

Scrags64 profile image
Scrags64 in reply to

Yes, heard that on the news yesterday, but statistics are so low. 0.0000015% of people who have had the vaccine have died from blood clots in the UK. X

in reply to Scrags64

Exactly. So small it's hardly worth mentioning. The risk of catching or dying from covid or being left with the effects of long covid, far outweigh those of major side effects from any of the vaccines. GET YOUR JABS PEOPLE 😀 xx

I have long covid as well as all my liver issues and wouldn't wish it on anyone. X

Oh you poor thing. 🤗 xx

And by the way. My platelets were never high. They are higher count after vaccine.

in reply to Elenaevent

It's a shame you have nowhere to report this in Canada it really surprises me .Take care

Pairing different vaccine at this time with little known about the virus and vaccine can cause Problems due to different messenger RNA, They may cause your immune systems to respond differently, but having some type of protection is better than none.

Yes, we are all guinea pigs when it comes to covid vaccine. No doubt. Unfortunately. If my liver improves ever, we will know. After the first vaccine it took 6 weeks for pain to go away. No clue what will happen now. After the second shot my lymphocytes went up too.

How often do you get bloods done? I wouldn't have a clue if my bloods changed after vaccination, I haven't had enough blood tests to know.

Since my problems w gallbladder and liver statred this year - every two or three weeks.

I see. You're probably in a fairly unique position then, are the post vaccination spikes obvious within the rest of your data?

Elenaevent profile image
Elenaevent in reply to Kakey

It is hard to tell now. The pattern is that one week after each vaccine I had pain. 1st time lasted for 6 weeks. It is now 2 weeks after the second. Hurts and ltfs are high. There is no research on that... hence, my own.

It is interesting though. Especially the bloods, as they might be easier to assess. Hope you feel better x

I don't think we are guinea pigs, i think this vaccine has saved lives. I do feel it is possible that getting 2 different type of vaccine could cause some problems due to RNA. but this might not be the problem in your case due to you already having liver issues, it is possible that the vaccine really had nothing to do with your sudden pain. hope you feel better soon.

I really don't know... it could be true it could be not true. And no doctor can give me an answer at this point. That's why I feel like a human Subject for vaccine experiments.

in reply to sophiaS1980

Of course it's better than nothing. We are incredibly fortunate to already have the vaccine and the rollout has been remarkable. I certainly don't feel anyone is being used as guineapigs though, scientists have been working bloody hard to ensure we have these vaccines to prevent us dying from this virus and it is working but we must still take all the precautions to limit the spread. As we have seen, cases are increasing due to new variants so it's still too early to rest on our laurels, unless you choose to take your chances. Each to his own.

I wish we would get to the teenagers. I have teens and am worried sick about them. They are so vulnerable.

Don’t forget the blood clots!

Global research into Covid vaccination is ongoing.

In the UK, any potential side effects to the vaccine should be reported to your doctor ASAP and recorded here;
