Greeting from East Coast America!!!Can Liver disease cause weight loss even if one is eating right? I was diagnosed with ALD in December last year. I don't know the exact stage or diagnosis yet except for my family doctor thinks that it is a fatty liver. I have an appointment with GI in August to figure out why my ALP was high when the bloods were taken last month. I have been eating right, no hunger problems, Alcohol abstinence since Oct 25,2020. I have dropped about 22 pounds! I'm starting to wonder what is triggering it.

Can Liver Disease cause weight loss?
Were you overweight before? Only eating healthy and quitting alcohol would give you natural weight loss, I would have thought. Keep up the abstinence (well done 😊) and discuss with your gp. Best of luck. K 👍
I was slightly overweight. My height is 6'1" and I was about 202 Pounds. Now I'm 180 Pounds. I did reduce the size of the portions of my meals. Included more vegetables, cut down on added sugars. I'm also dealing with the recent death of my father. I'm not sure if I'm depressed but I'm definitely worried and sad at the moment!
Ya I would think that dropping booze and eating more healthy food would cause weight loss
The GI doc will help you solve this puzzle for sure. Fatty liver has a side effect of “feeling of fullness” that can lead people to eat less as well (sometimes), further, it can also slow metabolism. Can lead to gain or loss
I hope so...I did 2 ultrasounds in last 6 months and the diagnosis on it is fatty liver. I'm just hoping that I did not went too far away with my alcohol abuse...So I will ask GI to do all the tests that will confirm the current state of my liver. Fingers crossed!
