Hello folks. It is obvious by several blood tests that my GGT is rising ( no drinking here..) and some other LFTs are raised. It tells about inflamation in the liver. While I am waiting for fibriscan and doctor's talk can you please tell me what medication can be prescribed? I am sick and tired to live with this dull pain constantly after my gallbladder was removed 2 months ago.....by the way MRI didn't indicate problems with the liver. I just don't understand that... ggt jumped from 47 to 124.

Any medication for inflamation in the liver to reduce rising GGT
Good morning,
There is no specific medication that I am aware of to reduce inflammation and I would urge extreme caution if you are tempted to try anything that is advertised on line/in health stores. - products from these sources are not subject to the same stringent tests that doctors/ pharmacists would suggest and can cause more harm than good. The other point is that you could 'muddy the waters' by taking something before you have the tests and the consultation thereby making the management of your condition more difficult.
It must be really frustrating for you to stil have the pain but do try and hold on until you have had the fibroscan and talked to the doctor.
regards
There are two things to consider here. I may be way off target, but just mention this as a possible answer to your concerns.
Firstly the liver doesn’t have any pain receptors, so it can’t tell you when it’s getting poorly or being damaged. However, the liver is covered by a thin membrane called “Glisson's capsule”. Now, this membrane does have pain receptors, as the liver becomes enlarged, this capsule will stretch, and the person can often feel pain and discomfort. This doesn’t happen with everyone, and some people experience no pain at all. Identifying what is causing the liver to become enlarged will most likely require further investigation.
The other condition may be caused by a blocked gallstone. Now, I know you said you had your gallbladder removed 2-months ago, but sometimes gallstones can get left behind. Has this pain started recently, or since your gallbladder was removed?
Sometimes gallbladder stones can escape from the gallbladder and become lodged in the bile duct. This then can block the flow of bile from the Liver. A backlog can then form and cause the liver to become enlarged. This picture may explain this better. An Ultrasound scan is often used to identify any leftover stones.
Remember, most medical diagnosis is arrived at by ruling what it’s not. So this information is only a possibility.
Hope this helps
Richard.
Thank you very much Richard-Allen. I complained about my pain a month after the surgery ( pain is similar to it was before). The surgeon immediately sent to MRI which showed no bile ducts obstruction... they indicated some kind of non drainble fluid bed but they said --- All is normal. No fatty liver or anything else was indicated. So why then GGT increased ?. this year I had 3 ultrasounds. 2 done in hospital plus MRI said nothing about fatty liver. Why. Now a gastroenterologist says I do have one.
