I am going to be speaking to my consultant about my US I just had, this just out of interest.He sent me later saying no significant change since last US. I got the report and compared the two. Last time my liver was coarse, now it’s smooth! Last time it was enlarged, now it’s normal! I have portal hypertension,US says normal antegrade flow in the portal vein. I’ve been complaining of off upper right side pain, report says a well distended gallbladder which would explain the tenderness. So if I didn’t get the report I wouldn’t know any of this? Wonder why it’s not significant??

I would encourage you to try and clarify these differences with your liver team or GP . They are best placed to look at the scans together to assess any changes and they can look at your case as a whole .

I mean , your ultrasound is showing no cirrhosis now. So I wonder what it means now for you? My ultrasound results are same...although I haven't been diagnosed with cirrhosis yet

It’s says smooth in contour, not enlarged. Slightly course in texture in keeping with cirrhosis. US 7 months before that said mild infiltration of fatty liver. US and bloods are a working diagnosis,biopsy is gold standard(I’ve heard) for confirmation. My doctor friend said US are largely open to interpretation and experience of the ‘operator’. My consultant had to order a CT which was read by a consultant radiologist to clarify something about my pancreas as the US was too vague. I’ve heard lots of different story’s since my diagnosis,so who knows...
