Positive that people are seeking help 😊

I wondered about it. Thinking there may be alot more people with liver problems as a result of lock down drinking

in reply toCHRISR999

Yes the trust wrote something about it. I think it’s been hard times for many sadly and I’ve seen a lot in the media about it too.

in reply toCHRISR999

Nope, mine is non-alcoholic, think I ate too many cakes....ooh banana bread, lol.

Certainly a lot of people anxious that they've done themselves harm - not necessarily all actually poorly with their livers.

I spoke to a liver nurse from British liver trust She told me there's alot of people who's drank themselfs to oblivion during these lock downs.. There should have been adverts on TV warning ppl not to do that. It's shocking

in reply toCHRISR999

Over 3500 extra alcohol related deaths since the 1st lockdown. As l said on a recent post, thank the government for telling us that like food alcohol is an essential commodity ! Rediculous !

Monies more important than health in the government's book Maybe if people had a better understanding how ill you can get then lots might think twice. Selling poison for money just doesn't seem just without proper warnings. Maybe we should all protest to get heard

in reply toCHRISR999

You're not saying anything new here sadly Chis, the powers that be just don't want to hear it.

in reply toCHRISR999

The supermarkets may have run out of loo roll but my god all those aisles of alcohol were permenantly stocked high plus buy 1 get 6 free ! "If covid don't getcha the booze will" 👹

Hi Laura. I will say my dad went to aldi other day and the beer Isle was depleted. So it's not always the case. Just goes to show that problem drinking is on the up tho. X

in reply toCHRISR999

So aldi have sold out? What does that say? Suppliers can't keep up with demand anymore x

CHRISR999 in reply to

Yeah Laura looks that way. I was surprised when my dad told me. More n more life destroyed as a result of covid lock downs. And just abour zero guidence and health warnings. It stinks tbh x

How many people actually go on drinkaware site. And how many people know about the site. Its not exactly in your face. But the alcohol is. Its in every shop type establishment. Even in b n m. You can't escape it. We all have choices I know that but addictions can control a person with a addictive personality. And there's more and more of them in this world. X

Drinkaware is actually funded by the Alcohol Industry, you couldn’t really make it up.

CHRISR999 profile image
CHRISR999 in reply toTT-2018

Make it up? That the reason why it's not advertised more then. If your funding something then you would want a say in things. They don't want sales to fall. They want them to increase. Its called greed

in reply toCHRISR999

I really don't think adverts would help. I knew a lady who's previous partner had died from cirrhosis (told me about his last moments in graphic detail) but she still drank from morning to night.

Think there's a lot of anxious people out there seeking help, some are genuine and some are just hypochondriacs imo, posting pics of nails and pure white eyes. I've not been on here for ages as its not the same as it was, Still very helpful for people who need it though. Just want to say hi to all the old lot who have helped me through a lot of trouble last couple of years, i hope they carry on contributing or this place will be like a hypochondriacs anonymous and the hardest part of that would be for them to stand up and say they don't have a problem 🤣. Take care everyone.

I was diagnosed a year ago with Stage 4 cirrhosis with unknown cause. It was a nightmare trying to get medical care as the pandemic began. I was told that a transplant was the only treatment available for me. I found you all a few months ago and you have given me some hope and I thank you.

I got loads of good advice as a newbie.Everyone starts their journey somewhere so even if it seems trivial but it helps them to see what could happen that’s a good thing.

What you guys don’t want is a clicky group that is only helpful to the regular people.

That would be a real shame as the site is packed with good advice and literature that explains so much.

I am alcohol free and so grateful I managed to see what I was doing before it was irreversible and that’s in part down to reading the variety of other peoples stories including the heartbreaking ones and the ones who posted less serious concerns.

Alcohol abuse and psychological issues in the USA has skyrocketed as well. However our trash media doesn’t cover it.
