Normalisation of liver function

So I got a letter today from my consultant saying he was pleased to tell me of the normalisation of my liver function. So after being diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis with ascites this time last year at 7st in hospital,I’m now 12st (muscle mass) and 10 1/2 months sober. Giving up alcohol has been the hardest thing but the most amazing thing I have done. Truly life changing. The support and knowledge of this site has been invaluable and it’s what has got me through the dark days in lockdown when medical advice was hard to come by. So thank you BLT and to all of you as well. 😊👍

Yes symptom free. I have portal hypertension which is managed with carvidilol, had one small grade 1 Varices on last endoscopy. I fitter than I’ve ever been which is down to not drinking and eating properly. I was lucky it got caught it time,I feel very blessed and enjoy every moment of life now. I’m doing a diploma now, to be come an Addiction therapist to help others find recovery. It’s time to give back now.

Always wonderful to read the good stuff😁. Well done!! Is it not just wonderful to feel not free of problems, but aware of the power we have to make ourselves as well as can be. I do not know how you did what you did, but keep it up. What has happened to you, myself and a few others is incentive enough to be free of selfishness (alcoholism is) and concentrate on helping and encouraging others. Look forward to more upbuilding posts 👍😁

Thank you. I did all the obvious things, diet, exercise etc. Mind you I have developed a big sweet tooth since giving up alcohol so I’ve have my fair share of goodies. Thankfully my blood and cholesterol have all come back normal. I had from the start a strong will to live and things I wanted to achieve. I have been given a second chance and I know I’m lucky!!
