I am a male, 36 years old, fit (on the skinny side).
I started drinking when I was about 18.
I would go out with friends and we would get pretty drunk on the week ends. I couldn’t tell how much we drank really, it varied a lot, sometimes it was just a few beers and sometimes it was a lot more. The frequency varied a lot too, sometimes I would go out 2/3 times in a week and other times I would spend weeks without touching a drink.
When I moved to the us from europe I drank a lot more regularly for about 3 years. I can’t say how often but it was more than a few times a week. Sometimes just a couple of beers and other times I would drink until I was completely drunk.
Once I reach my 30’s I slowed down a lot, not because I thought it was a problem (I never considered myself an alcoholic) but just because the appeal of drinking started to go away and the hangovers would get worse as I aged. I now only drink a beer or 2 once in a while.
Anyway in june of 2018 during a routine medical check up my blood results scared the living s*** out of me.
AST: 142 (normal between 10 and 40) and ALT: 54 (normal between 9 and 46).
I had a few beers about a week before taking the blood test.
My doctor told me not to worry, he redid a blood test 2 weeks later and everything went back to normal.
I went to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was really ok and that came back normal aswell. Since then I had 2 other blood tests that came back normal too.
About 5 days ago I started to fell twitching on my upper right side.
It is not painfull but it feels like muscle spasms or fluttering right under my ribs where my liver is. At first I thought it was just gas or something but it has been going on for almost a week now...It’s kinda like something vibrating right next to my ribs.
So I went on google and it triggered my hypocondria again...I read about people with cirrhosis who never got detected even with ultrasounds and mri and that makes me very worries that my doctor missed something...
I have no other symptoms, I exercice 3/5 times a week but I am afraid that I did some damage to my liver in my youth and I am now paying for it...
