ELF test......GP says bloods normal, no follow up

Morning

I had a different account, but I also have huge anxiety so I closed it as I thought reading was making me more anxious, whereas reading the forum and staying away from Dr G was the best thing so opened a new account.

58 yr old female. Long term relationship with wine, with frequent periods of abstention. Investigated in past by GP for aches in right side and back, including CT with contrast. Never any sign of gallbladder disease, just mild fatty liver. I am overweight although have lost 17lbs this year so numbers are moving in right direction.

Attended new GP (old one left) as these right side pains worsening, plus other things he has treated. He did ELF and GGT as well as bone profile, U&Es, FBC.

Rang yesterday to be told bloods normal, no follow-up required. I am amazed as I thought both ELF and GGT would show some abnormalities, so I have requested a follow up. I am trying to build my trust in a new GP because of my anxiety but this has made it spiral. I intend to ask him to go thru my bloods. Should I also ask for an ultrasound scan?

I would ask for a more detailed inspection and suggest you would like an Ultrasound to help put your mind at ease.

What / who is Dr G? your previous GP?

Dr Google!!! Thanks, I will

Hi Hollyrain, I'm sorry that you have been feeling anxious - it can be tricky finding the balancing act between accessing support and becoming overwhelmed with Dr G! In terms of your anxiety, are you getting support for that? I've attached a link which you may want to look at.nhs.uk/mental-health/condit...

In terms of your liver health - a normal ELF test and GGT is reassuring but you may want to discuss referral for an abdominal ultrasound. I'll attach a link to liver bloods explained which may be of interest to you. I see that you intend to discuss your results with your GP - I hope that appointment is helpful for you.
