Hi All, as I am sure everyone else is, I am very much looking forward to going on holiday when it is safe to do so. I am am 8 months post transplant so will need suitable travel insurance. Does anybody know of good travel insurance agents that cater for people with pre existing medical conditions.

I think that post-Covid, this one is going to be difficult. I have already applied for the GHIC, which covers Europe.

nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/health...

This covers all medical emergencies and you only pay in accordance to the local guidelines.

You could then get insurance for everything else, excluding medical.

It might be worth consideration?

Are you planning on going to the International Liver Congress in June?

I just used the comparison sites to get mine and had some reasonable quotes for single trip insurance. A little bit, but not significantly, more expensive than normal insurance would be. I did though have difficulty getting multi trip insurance. One thing that I did notice though is that they insisted on you having a valid EHIC card (the European Health Insurance Card). If you dont have a valid one of these you'll probably need to get its post brexit replacement, the GHIC. It is though still free to obtain in the same way the EHIC was.

Hi Higgsy1

That is a difficult one I have not had my liver transplant yet but I used to go to the USA to see my son and family and my insurance was massive about as much as the ticket, you have to have a serious search round because one year it could be one company then the next year it was another good luck with it 😎.

Stay Safe All

Hi Higgsy1 - what a good question and one thing I had not thought of, after my transplant I was not advised not to fly/travel until June 2020 and by then we had Covid and decided that we would not plan any holidays until the all clear was given and safe to travel again. With all the great tips given it's something I am going to start looking into. First holiday we are going to stay in Europe and go when it is cooler and we can sightsee rather than my pre TP days of sunbathing from dawn to dusk (those days are over) Please let us know how you get on with your insurance, I have started applying for the GHIC Card
