I was diagnosed with having a fatty liver in September, via ultrasound
Blood tests in August showed ALT at 54 or thereabouts, I can't remember the number off the top of my head. My cholesterol was high, at 7 point something.
I had repeat bloods taken last week, and have just found out my cholesterol has gone down to 5.2 (woohoo!) BUT my ALT has gone back up to 82. I did Dry Jan,lost 9lb and was eating more healthy, so why on earth would the ALT have increased? I have a doctor appt next week.
It's so frustrating and demotivating.

thanks - what reasons are there for fluctuations? It just seems really odd that I had 5 weeks of eating pretty clean and no alcohol, yet my ALT went back up :/ I was actually thinking it would have come down further. Can HRT patches cause this? I know the pills can cause issues, but not sure about the patches. Thanks
It is very difficult to know - but if you have started any new medications it is important to discuss this with your doctors when trying to analyse the cause of fluctuation .
