My Husband who has cirrhosis and is declining daily has just been given an appointment for a ct scan tomorrow at hospital. Bearing in mind the severity of COVID, should he go? Any advice welcome.

Yes 100%..... hospitals are safe for non Covid Patients still and you should carry on getting any other medical conditions treated.
My hubby has his routine 6 monthly ultrasound scan on Thursday and although it scares us somewhat he is still going for it, we'll be wearing masks and i've also ordered full face shields. If your hubby needs the scan then definitely he must go for it, hospitals are very stringent on covid precautions for routine procedures and tests.

He should attend. Hospitals are taken every measure possible to keep you safe. I have had to attend 2 appointments and then I had to attend a&e. You will have to wear a mask and use hand sanitiser and I also had to have temperature check. The main thing I didn't like was that my husband was not allowed in with me. This meant I was on my own when I received my diagnosis of cirrhosis (non alcohol) which came as a bolt from the blue.
Hello,
I understand your concern but hospitals and staff are well prepared for taking the appropriate precautions with regard to COVID. With a diagnosis of cirrhosis it is important to have regular scans.

At the QE, they have mobile units to do the CT scans as well as ones inside the hospital, so it's possible your hospital has a mobile unit. This then makes it possible to only go in the CT scanner unit and not even enter the hospital. Having said that, I have had numerous visits to two different hospitals for various things and they are being very careful. Don't miss out, because the CT scan could reveal something that needs dealing with now. Best of luck to you both.
Yes, go. Hospitals are only asking people to come in for appointments they really need to see. Others are being done over the phone. If his hasn't been changed to a telephone appointment he really should go.
Covid is clearly a risk anywhere. But hospitals have taken probably more precautions than anywhere. You'll probably find you are the only ones in the waiting room, lol.
They wouldn't give you an appointment at this difficult time if it wasn't important. I had 1 scan during first lockdown and second just before the last lockdown and the Royal Free were very fussy about keeping me and the staff safe. This should not be something to worry about.
Since the beginning of the pandemic my partner has regularly been to our surgery for blood tests, and to several departments in local hospitals for procedures including biopsies and scans. Last week he had a gastroscopy, next week he has his second MRI in a fortnight . I have also recently had an ultrasound. In my opinion, you are far safer in a hospital than a supermarket! Everything is scrupulously cleaned, and waiting rooms are almost empty. The downside is that you have to attend appointments alone, unfortunately. If an appointment or procedure is judged necessary, then go ahead. Hope yours will prove helpful.
