Post op Liver transplant.

Hi I'm 3 years post liver transplant and taking immuno-suppressants/anti-reflection drugs. As my immunity is very low I do not yet know if any of the Covid-19 vaccines will protect me by stimulating my body to produce antibodies to fight the virus. I'd be very keen to hear if anyone has any information on this topic. Because I'm under 70 yrs of age I'm not likely to get the shot (or be on the list) probably until end January/early February (if all goes well). Fortunately in otherwise very fit and healthy and lead a very active life.

I am 6 months post transplant and also on immune suppressant medication. I had my latest hospital appointment with my Liver specialist last week and was told that the Pfizer vaccine is suitable for transplant patients. If you are of an age below 75 you should receive it at the same time as the 70-74 age group if you are in the UK, I hope this helps.

Thanks Higgsy1 - in fact I've subsequently done further research on this and according to my liver consultant by the time I would be due as a vulnerable person (for the vaccine) there'll be more data from other tests of people like us taking current medications into account. This will give them more help in identifying safest vaccine or combination of vaccines for immuno surprised patients.
