hello, Thank you for replying i would really appreciate the NHS LIST, I have started eating more fish and lean chicken, i have found out that i shoulld have been refered to a dietian.
Hillclimber72 , would u mind sending me the list as well. I’m still figuring out the whole fatty liver issues as I’m doing my best to stay away from alcohol, exercise regularly and eat healthier. It would be much appreciated.
Hi, firstly if u have no fix abode you need to sort that out before you can sort your liver problems out. Then as people that’s given you advice (that yr liver can get better), your feel better and then ask for advice (diets exercise etc). Surely yr GP knows about your problems, so if u don’t ask you don’t get.
Wishing you a the best & in these times you should have a place (even a bed sit for now.
Hi, sacha, all procedures etc are postponed until this pandemic is under control. I’m under the Royal free for my liver (there are only 2 hospitals that deal with complications of the liver) and both of these hospitals were free of COVID and was dealing with liver patients. I was due to have a scan & blood test then see the surgeon, bt it’s all changed, the scan is still on but to see the surgeon is next year in March. I’ve been waiting from the beginning of this pandemic I have to wait and I’m urgent. It’s all changed now, I hope you get seen ASAP, but it’s hard in any other health issues, including Cancer. It’s annoying, bt there is nothing anyone can do.... As long u have blood tests done through yr GP, they will see all yr functions of yr liver. Hopefully you have a nice GP.
Not sure what you mean when you say only two hospitals deal with complications of the liver. I go to my local hospital and have an amazing consultant. During lockdown I have had two ultrasounds, 2 ct scans, 6 gastroscopies and 2 consultations. I also have monthly blood tests. Have had 2 consultations with my haematologist and 2 with my diabetic consultant.
There are only 2 machines in the UK which has this blood machine that only deals with a specific test. This was on BBC 4 also on the Radio.... One of the hospital was Royal Free, the other (was either Guys or St Thomas’s). That is why I was transferred to the Royal Free, the rest of my health issues is the UCH Huntley Street W1.
I’ve all the tests u have had above, but they are going to do this Liver test because they don’t know exactly what it’s causing my Liver problem, (they know about the Fatty liver) but there is something else going on.
Tha patient charter tells you what you should expect from your care, what sort of questions you should ask.
It is really important that you are managed appropriately and that you have a followup plan. You could also ask about referral to a dietician of weight loss is problematic.
If you would like to talk to one of our liver specialist nurses we do have a free helpline open Mon-Fri 10:00 0800 652 7330
