Folks, I'm still awaiting ultrasound re suspect gallstones, my RUQ pain has tailed off a lot since for the last 4 weeks I've stopped drinking alcohol ( I was a binge drinker) & cut out Choc/Cakes/ Biccies etc but alongside that I've been suffering all over abdo pains, low middle & low left & right.
Doctor tested for Helicobacter and it was positive, I'm on the last day of a 2 week triple therapy regime. Four Questions if any body has any similar experience.
1/ Can Helicobacter cause these low abdo pains, these pains predate the triple therapy meds (Amox/Clarithromycin/Omeprazole) (Doc says no)
2/ I'm losing weight could that be due to the Helicobacter or my healthy diet or both?
3/ Do I need retesting to see if the Helicobacter has gone?
4/ Doctor said he could feel my liver, is that possible & does it mean anything?
Thanks people I know you guys aren't doctors but sometimes similar life experiences count.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria. It weakens the protective mucus coating of the stomach and duodenum which allows acid to go through to the sensitive lining beneath.
Abdominal pain is the most common symptom. The triple therapy will hopefully help to eradicate it.

Thanks Trust1, I must schedule an appointment ...... but I get the impression from my doc he thinks all will be well eventually ... me being a cynical ex cop tends to look on the least optimistic side, hey ho ... he’s putting me on Mebeverine after I have 4 clear days from today when the triple therapy ends to see if that calms the gut pain and after about 5 days to let him know how I get on... Regards G
Hi, Triple therapy is quite a big concoction for anyone to go through & it can be quite wrecking for your guts but will stabilise.
I retested myself for Helicobacter from an on line company (Not the antibodies test) & it should a neg result. Upper abdo pain gone, Ultrasound scan on RUQ area showed no concerns with gallbladder, Liver, bile duct etc. (No stones detected)
However lower abdo pains (low left, below belly button & low right) still there but diminished I'm awaiting results on abdo CT scan & a stool test for any inflammatory bowel disorders .
If you've only got Helicobacter then the triple therapy will kill it but ask your Doc do you need retesting otherwise order an an on line test & if its pos then go back to Docs with it & ask 'what next?' On a side note I've been tee total for over 2 months maybe that's helped, lets know how you get on. My very best wishes....Good luck.
