Two weeks ago my husband was in the ER for Cirrhosis symptoms. We were told he had three months to live and had to wait until he was sober six months. We clearly did not have that time. We were able to find a transplant center that would take him and with 24 hours notice boarded a medical jet (he was too ill to be discharged) and flew out of state. I am staying in a hotel with hopes to get a short term apartment.
Today we got the call with a liver offer!
If everything goes well he is having surgery in the morning ❤️
Please send him your thoughts and prayers that everything goes well.
If anyone has experience or post transplant advice I would love to hear it.
With love,

That is such good news and I hope everything goes well🙏 Whatever hospital he is in the team are fabulous! I met the anaesthetist beforehand for a good old chat and the co-ordinator was giving me regular updates and then I walked with them to theatre! The team all said hello and next thing I know I wake up in the strangest place ever ITU. I think between the drugs and the machines it might be a bit daunting, but the staff there are also amazing and every shift I had my own nurse, not sure how it all works with Covid, or which hospital you are in, but the care is amazing! Be prepared to have weird conversations and hallucinations are pretty common. The first couple of days evertything comes to you, ultrasound, X ray etc!
I had my gift on the 10th December and got back to my home hospital on the 26th December and got home on the 20th January🙏
Other people will have different timeframes, I had complications but completely unrelated to my liver who is called Billie🤗
Will be thinking about you today and if you have any questions or worries please feel free to drop me a message!
Sending all best wishes and a large virtual hug🤗🤗🙏
