Yesterday I had yet again a visit to the ER after having ruq pains, oily stool and a bad case of anxiety.. I been having a multitude of tests over the last few weeks ranging from blood work 5x, echography, x-ray, CT scan and a endoscopy. Blood work was always normal, echo also. CT scan showed I had a fatty liver (didn't show up on echo). And the endoscopy showed I had a chronic stomach inflammation which was not ongoing. I'm overweight and have a history with alcohol, had a gastric bypass 10 years ago. I guess I can assume I don't have cirrhosis from these tests, either way i'm having a elastography next week?
The oily stools (color is mostly light to dark brown) concern me big time since I know this can happen with gastric bypass but it never happened with me before it's been something that started after I had a relapse a few weeks ago. I been to multiple doctors and it's so exhausting to get straight answers. I'm pushing to get a colonoscopy and a hida-scan, to rule things out. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong or have the same experience, i'm not looking for a diagnosis just a push in the right direction. The symptoms that I currently have are ruq pain, oily stool and acid reflux, for the rest I feel fine. I do suffer from bad anxiety.
Any help would be welcome.

I think your biggest problem is your anxiety not helped by your history of drinking. Worrying about your health, googling every symptom is undoubtably going to convince you you are suffering from some dreadfull illness. Carry on like this, by next week you will be posting saying you think you're going to die!
Your priority needs to be to see an anxiety councellor to get these ideas out of your head. Once you have had as many sessions as it takes to calm down, re-access your symptoms with a level head then see your GP if they are still genuinely there.
In the meantime, look at your diet, your weight , alcohol intake and how much daily exercise you are getting. Do you need to make any changes to improve your overall health for yourself ?
Good afternoon Willbn,
I am sorry to hear you havent been feeling so well.
I am glad to hear you are having elastography as this will hopefully give you some clarity with regards to any liver condition/damage.
From a health anxiety perspective , I have included a link to the NHS information.
I do have health anxiety and I also have a psychologist which i'm going to weekly. I'm considering to moving to a psychologist who focusses on cognitive behavioral therapy since this is proven to help treat health anxiety better. Besides that I must say I eat very healthy, nearly no sugar, very little fat, lots of fruits an vegetables. The only thing I drink is water, tea and coffee (no milk, no sugar). I lost almost 15 kilo by eating healthy. I'm well aware health anxiety can cause some serious symptoms but oily stool is not one of them if i'm right? If I was not this persistent then the doctor would send me packing with my first blood test giving me the all clear. It took until I had a CT-scan to find out I had a fatty liver, i'm glad I know and hopefully turn this around. Just looking for people with similar problems and if they got a conclusive diagnosis?
So great you are doing all the right things. Just give it time, you will get there. Don't over think things. Try meditation, pilates or yoga? Alot of people find it works wonders as it focuses on breathing techniques which in turn de-stresses and relaxes the mind, body and soul .
