Thats some list of meds and i dont think you should be stopping without advice from your doctor. You would not have all of them if you didnt need and could do more harm by just stopping. Please dont until you have spoken to doctor, another month won't cause any more damage but stopping could have severe health implications.
I can tell you from that list that your are not to just stop these meds they are to be weaned off gradually..... I would advise you to speak to your gp before you do anything as you can be one seriously ill! Stopping these meds all together Would be very silly.
Not advisable my friend to go cold Turkey on that amount of medication, you will end up in hospital, definitely wait until you get your appointment with your doctor, and then discuss what plan of attack is the best way forward, just stick with your medication for now,its the best thing for you, I can't say this strongly enough, its not to long to wait in the bigger scheme of things, so just be patient, and hopefully a good talk with the doctor can sort things out.
By eating healthily you can reverse your diabetes so you won't need to take so many meds. Foods which cause type 2 diabetes and weight gain also cause liver disease ( not just alcohol either) so medication is not only to blame and by the time you see your dr next month, after several weeks of healthy eating, it's possible he could review your medication and maybe a referral to a dietician would be of great benefit to you and a better approach than stopping all those meds without professional medical approval.
My cousin really struggled with diabetes and was put on the special strict diet that was in the news last year. My cousin went from a couch potato to runner in a year and lost 6 stone, reversing his diabetes in the process.
I know how frustrating it is to not get hold of your do tor but don't just attempt to come off the tablets overnight or you'll end up in a worse state.
Good morning,
Your fellow forum users are giving you good advice. It would be dangerous to stop all those medications at once.
How was your cirrhosis diagnosed and has the cause been fully investigated? There are many causes of cirrhosis eg viruses, being overweight, diabetes, auto immune conditions. Alcohol is only one of them and obviously not the cause with you as you don't drink.
Please do not stop your medications, discuss this with your GP. You could also ask your GP for referral to a dietician so that you can plan a sustainable, healthy diet to help deal with your diabetes.
I lost my reply so this is a quick version!!!!! Do not do what you propose to do until you have spoken to a doctor, either GP or specialist. If you do go ahead I can guarantee you will regret it. Of course we all sympathise with your dilemma, but you cannot expect support for action you suggest. It would be tantamount to us encouraging you to taking action which could have enormous repercussions. Good luck with any attempt you make to seek help and support for the right way of dealing with your anger and frustrations.
I can only reiterate what everyone else has said, please see a medical professional before you do anything. Please let me know how you get on. Xxxx
Woh that’s pretty drastic. Try cutting one down at a time. During lockdown I managed to halve some of mine, metachlopromide and oxybutanin I managed to come off. Halved metformin, omeprazole and ibs meds. Tried to come off them but had problems again. Was losing weight though, so didn’t need so much of them. We don’t like it but the truth is weight causes a lot of problems medically and mentally. My diet for diabetes is breakfast meal replacement shake and veg for the rest of the day. It works. Spice it up, eat pickled veg to make it more interesting. Be careful reduce first.
Hi Spyda410
I can totally understand your frustration but like many of my friends on here I too would advise you to hold off until you speak to your GP or consultant.
My reasons are, for the last 2 and quarter years I’ve been suffering with an unknown autoimmune disease which attacks my liver and other organs around my body regular,. I’m not on loads of medications like yourself but I did stupidly stop taking the few I was on as I thought my system could survive by eating healthy and exercising plus I felt well at the time. ‘I was so WRONG’ By stopping the meds I may have lowered my bodies own defences causing other viruses to attack my body which now has a tendency to knock me off my feet at the drop of a hat, therefore I recommend you think deeply about the actions you are about to take!!!!!!!
My latest virus kicked in January causing chest infection and throat issue and with this Covid going on it wasn't a great time to be unwell. I was rushed tgrough for a chest x-ray, camera up the nose and down the throat by ENT Consultant which happened 10 days ago, I’m now to receive speech therapy but there’s a long waiting list.
Please Spyda, think wisely as your on your meds for a reason .
Hi, Just to let you know that this post is 10 months old.
To reiterate, at the British Liver Trust we would strongly suggest that no one should stop taking prescribed medication such as opioids suddenly. This should be managed closely under medical supervision and direction from their doctor.
