does any body here have treatment with Dilatrend 6.25 mg for portal hypertension ( board line measurement ) or splenomegaly due to compensated liver cirrhosis with mild esophageal varices ? any improvement in liver health ? fibrosis , eliminating esophageal varices and side effect of this medicine ?

my doctor said this has impact on slowing down the liver fibrosis

I think Dilatrend is a brand name for Carvedilol which many of us take to reduce the risk of bleeding varices amongst other things.

I take one 12.5 mg tablet per day and have no real side effects. When it was first prescribed, I took my meds first thing in the morning and did sometimes get a little dizzy so switched to taking before bedtime and have been fine since.

I have not had an endoscopy to check varices since starting on Carvedilol but have had an ultrasound which showed backflow in the portal vein had reversed. I do not know if this is because of being alcohol free and eating more healthily or whether the meds have helped.

thanks for the reply , i think it is due to both but mainly due to Meds , however what about your spleen size , does the Meds have impact on splenomegaly ?
