Hi there my name is rusty this is my story so far , im mid 30s I’ve got a bmi of 33 I am over weight but I’m very solid and have a fair bit of muscle being a steel worker , I’ve always been a fairly moderate drinker ( 4 or 6 cans of mid strength beer ) per night and probably more around the 10 per night on weekends etc , most weeks I would have 1 or 2 nights off from drinking tho . Diet isn’t great but rarely eat junk food either with the exception of take out maybe once a week , anyway about a year ago I started getting a slight discomfort under my right rib when driving but didn’t really think anything of it , until February when I decided to google it and then I realised it might be liver related and I also had a couple other symptoms including palmar ethymer and one small spider navie so I immediately stopped drinking and have not had anything since , I went for a blood test and u/s at the start of March and all bloods where in order except for alt that was around the 100 mark , ultrasound showed smooth liver in the upper limits of normal size with normal portal vein flow and caliber , and normal sized spleen ,doctor said all is well and dismissed me , how ever the pain hasn’t gone so I went back and got more bloods and this time a ct scan and the alt has risen to around 150 and I have mild enlargement of spleen and liver on ct , my question is why would this be with a further 6 weeks of abstinence from my first test ? I do understand nobody here is a doctor but just thought I’d ask as my own doctor isn’t concerned and said come back in 3 months for another blood test , thanks in advance .
