As I’ve previously posted my wife has stage 4 liver disease NAFLD. One of the symptoms which has been getting worse lately is her skin is itching to the point where she has scratched it and caused it to bleed. We have been using E45 anti itch cream but is there anything better. Sometimes she wakes at night crying with the itching. Thanks x

It would be advisable to discuss this with your wife's doctor as they may be able to prescribe medication to help ease the itching.
Very best wishes.
This pruritis is a symptom associated with advanced liver disease and is often caused by a build up of bilirubin. It is important not to scratch as the open sores can easily become infected.
A GP appointment may be necessary and a prescription treatment that gets mentioned here often (with good results) is an antihistimine called Fexofenadine and it might be worth trying to get a prescription.

Hi
Before my transplant my inching was terrible, I tried everything and something's worked for a while then stopped again. I stuck to E45 mostly but tried Zeroderm ointment and derma cool both gave some relieve.
Cool showers before bed and damp towels, try altering what she eats before going to bed, also ask her consultant as there are drugs they can prescribe.
To be honest only a transplant stopped it, my thoughts are with you as its an awful thing that until you have experienced it, you dont understand.
I did get periods when it got better for a while, when they adjusted my drugs.
Not much help I know but others may have some suggestions as well
