Hi everyone!

Good to be part of the community.

I went through successful treatment for hep c. about 5 or 6 years ago. It was the 2nd attempt and very unpleasant, but it worked

I contracted hep c through intravenous drug use in the 1960s & 70s. It was estimated I had the virus for 40 plus years.

I am a Follower of The Lord Jesus Christ and that has helped me survive through many difficult times

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hiya Malc,

Welcome to the forum. I have had a similar experience and am very interested in hearing the details of yours.

Did you get liver damage from the Hep C? I got cirrhosis. ☹️

I was given a tainted blood transfusion (not on purpose obviously) in 1975 and was diagnosed with Hep C in 2002, and treated with Zepatier and had SVR in 2017. For those that don't know, the reason is, in the beginning there was no treatment, and later, the cost was extremely high. I was lucky enough to qualify for a study that provided free medical care and follow up for one year.

Sorry if this is too nosey just ignore me, what was so unpleasant about it for you? I didn't find the treatment that difficult, but mine was oral tablets (pills) not injections, which l have heard is very rough.

Hi Bootandall,

My treatment was with peg-interferon and ribavirin. When I had the weekly injection (self administered) within an hour it felt like I had the flu. I was supposed to have 48 weeks treatment but only did 14 weeks, but thank the Lord it cleared the virus. This was the 2nd treatment, the first with 48 weeks failed. I didn’t have cirrhosis, and a scan seemed to show my liver was in fairly good condition.

Don’t worry about being nosey, it’s a good way of getting to know each other!

Do you suffer with itchy skin? My hands and wrists get really itchy at times.

Thanks for your message, look forward to more contact.
