But football - you are supposed to be trying to work from home if you can, but I think the letter we are going to get is going to be much more stringent than that.

Please see

gov.uk/government/publicati...

Pertinent extracts:- (but do read it yourself, please)

“Work from home, where possible. Your employer should support you to do this. Please refer to employer guidance for more information”

“We strongly advise you to follow the above measures as much as you can and to significantly limit your face-to-face interaction with friends and family if possible, particularly if you:

are over 70

have an underlying health condition

are pregnant

This advice is likely to be in place for some weeks.”

Hi Huw, I ready in the news that the government will pay 80% of your wages if you have to self isolate because of covid19, not sure how it works or how to apply for it, in the meantime stay safe and take care of yourself xx

Hi Kate

I read similar but thought it was for firms potentially laying people off?

And thanks and stay as well as possible x

Hi Huw. The payments are supposed to be to encourage businesses not to lay people off, so that when all this is over they can hopefully reopen and workers go back to their jobs.

Obviously this won't happen in all cases but at least its a big chunk of your pay paid in the meantime.

Hi Alf. Yes that’s how I understand it,it just seems unfair that if you have to isolate for let’s say 12weeks due to various serious conditions then ssp could be looked at for those out of the 1.5million people who work, one or two weeks is hard on some family’s but 12 is on another level

But like I said if that’s what is advised by in my case addenbrookes then that’s what I will do

Stay well

You'll hear this week some time Huw. The following link will take you to guidance from public health england that was issued yesterday I believe.

gov.uk/government/publicati...

It's pretty serious stuff and i would imagine the advice we'll get directly this week will be along similar lines.

12 weeks it is then and hopefully we can all stay well

Not yet hoping hubby gets one this week but why are you still going to work when you are at the top of the high risk list

As a teacher I was told by my head to stay home and not to come back to work to protect my husband

Hi, I contacted by text message my daughters liver nurse at QEHB on the 8th March, asking for advice in respect of her isolating herself, as she has had a liver transplant and works as a Teaching assistant. I have not heard anything, not one word, from her, the hospital, consultant or the government. However, my mother who had recently had heart surgery at Blackpool Victoria, received a call from them on the 10th March, telling her to self isolate. I called my daughters Doctors to ask what she should do and was told that the Doctors are not giving advice on the coronavirus. Absolutely disgraceful. I would not wait for someone to tell you to isolate, for your OWN safety I would do it now, and know you are safe. I know financially it will be very difficult for everyone, but your health is far more important. Stay Safe everyone.

I would imagine your daughter will be one of the 1.5 million listed as super vulnerable who are going to get a letter regarding the 12 weeks protective isolation/shielding. All of those in this category are supposed to receive notification by 29th March.

The government has identified 1.5 million people in England at a high risk of being hospitalised because of the coronavirus.

People who fall into the extremely vulnerable group include: organ transplant recipients, people with specific cancers, severe respiratory conditions, rare diseases and those on immunosuppression therapies.

Women who are pregnant with significant heart disease are also included on the list.

The list of conditions includes:

- Solid organ transplant recipients

- People with specific cancers:

- people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radical radiotherapy for lung cancer

- people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who are at any stage of treatment

- people having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer

- people having other targeted cancer treatments which can affect the immune system, such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors

- people who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or who are still taking immunosuppression drugs

- People with severe respiratory conditions including all cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD.

- People with rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism that significantly increase the risk of infections (such as SCID, homozygous sickle cell).

- People on immunosuppression therapies sufficient to significantly increase risk of infection.

- Women who are pregnant with significant heart disease, congenital or acquired.

I totally agree with you,I thought we’d of heard before now but to actually contact them and get no advice really isn’t good,I realise they are extremely busy and do an amazing job but surely advice could of been given to admin

I have been self Isolating for 5 days

Organ transplant patients must isolate for 12 weeks I think it will be for 6 months or we wait for the vaccination.

Stopped working last Tuesday.

Sent in my sick note,

Stay safe and well

Elizabeth
