Chronic cirrhosis
Hi
I'm sorry I don't, I have Nash with fibrosis. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you. I just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please take care of yourself Lynne
Hi Elric
Welcome to this forum!
I don’t know what advice to give you as such. I mean the obvious ones are try and keep some exercise going, eat healthily and - the blatantly obvious - don’t drink alcohol.
Unfortunately with Cirrhosis there is not a lot more you can do but does depend of course on what stage you are at? Have you been referred to a Transplant Hospital yet or are you at the very start of your illness and the “long and winding road” is stretching out ahead of you? By that I mean it’s generally a long haul you, and most of us, have to, or have had to, endure......
I am afraid to some extent you have to learn to live with it - fatigue is something that seldom goes away 👎🏻.
I hope someone can come on here and offer more comprehensive advice than I can. You could also look at the Help documents on here (HU) which take you through many of the aspects of cirrhosis.
Good luck
Miles
Nicely written Miles !
Good Morning Elric1
Firstly I would like to also welcome you to this wonderful forum of caring people!
I see ThreeSmiles has already welcomed you and has explained that Liver disease of any kind can take you down a long recovery road which can be very daunting at times! What I've learnt over the last 18 months since joining this forum, is your never alone!
On this forum there are numerous members who may have similar health issues to yourself who hopefully will be in touch very soon! Unfortunately I'm still under investigation for possible liver issue's so cannot comment on your diagnosis.
If you decide to stay on this forum you will notice that we do banter with each other on a daily basis, this helps one and other cope with daily ups and downs which each and everyone of us have to face! I suggest to read through a few of the different stories in the meantime as these too maybe of some help!
I would however recommend to start browsing through the British Liver Trust website as it's full of interesting information and advice on improving your liver! Healthy Eating , Exercise and of course no alcohol if you want to improve your overall life style.
Oh well I've given you my brief advice for now, so please take care and remember were here to help and to make you smile even when you dont feel like it
Take care
Love Trish x
Hi
I can only agree with the other postings, but add one thought its possible with treatment things can get better over a period of time, by no means perfect. I went from awful to bearable before transplant.
But there is always light at the end of the tunnel
Always helpful people on here to chat to
David
Hi Elric,
Welcome to our friendly group.
I agree with the previous replies. I have stage 4 cirrhosis, and I get most of the myriad of symptoms cirrhosis brings. Perpetual tiredness is just one, but probably, along with capsule pain, are the worst two I have. I also have joint pain........ the list goes on unfortunately😢😢😢
There are no magic cures for cirrhosis, other than transplant, but even that can bring some problems, but fortunately not for all. I'm sorry for the gloomy outlook, but that's just cirrhosis.

Good morning Elric1,
Welcome to this friendly forum. I can see you have already had some wonderful support from our forum members.
May I suggest, if you feel your symptoms are worsening, that you make an appointment with your GP or liver specialist for review?
I have attached links to information on the British Liver Trust site which may give you some guidance

Hi 9
I can usually find these links after some searching effort. I know I’m probably a bit slow but can’t these be pinned like the community guidelines. I expanded the pinned posts and they’re not there as far as I can see! ☹️.

Your asking and I wish someone just told me the truth at the beginning. I don’t think sugar coating is what you looking for . So what I learned is stay on top of being depressed be honest with your doctors, Diet Diet Diet, plus follow all the directions of your Doctor and start accepting things are different an your health is changing. I felt the need to get to living so I got all my affairs in order like my will and final wishes then explained my health problems as to what to expect to my family and friends, bought a smaller home close to the hospital an dr’s offices with no yard, its been a huge relief. In the meantime researched and still do everything cirrhosis related from the old to the new discoveries. I questioned my Doctors as to everything possible from natural remedies to a transplant. Lots of new research and ideas out there. So there is hope but this disease is a process or stages an it will get harder. I have decompensated cirrhosis due to hepatitis C ( which I have been “cured” ) for several years now of the hepatitis C, an Now I live with all that goes with it. For me the hepatic encephalopathy , hepatopulmonary syndrome , Varices having oxygen tube hooked up 24-7 Etc... is the new me. Expect an plan to be tired an past exhaustion at times learn your limits. I am retired so For me I plan daily to complete my day between 9am to 2 pm so I can rest. It was impossible for me to sleep with out medication thusly causing changes in my personality basically becoming an ass. Now I sleep 8-10hrs at once instead of maybe 3 or 4 hrs a night huge difference no longer the ass still changing in personality. So my advice is try to live in the now as today is your best day good or bad. Follow the basic’s no alcohol no smoking no cheating on the diet 🥴 & exercise if or while you can. And also beware of the expectations and changes in your health condition they will come and be worse before it gets better. My advice is relax make your daily life as easy as you can have fun. Learn all you can because knowledge an knowing along with acceptance of what to expect next is comforting, I hope that’s what your asking.
Good luck

I’m a bit late to the party here but I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. People on here are very friendly. All I can say is I found the tiredness really hard to deal with sometimes, especially when I found it soooo difficult to sleep at night!!!! Very frustrating. All you can do is follow the advice given above re healthy eating and exercise etc and look after yourself the best you can. Take a nap during the day if it’s possible. Take care xx
Just a more positive comment Elric
I had hep c most likely for about 25 to 28yrs
I developed cirrhosis for about possibly 7yrs ago!..I cleared my virus on Harvoni 4yrs ago and to be honest it doesn't have to be all bad!
When the virus is gone you stop further damage and in most people they can start to reverse the outcome by bloods going back to normal and reversal of fibrosis or stage of cirrhosis in some can be achieved!
Not all people cured of hep c can reverse cirrhosis but at least it stops any further damage!
You can live an almost normal life even with cirrhosis apart from some mild symptoms!
It's not all doom and gloom at all!
I am speaking from a personal point of view having had hep c and cirrhosis for a good few yrs and cleared my virus..I now have varacies but they can reverse or even disappear in time when things gradually improve!
It takes time for symptoms to reverse especially with cirrhosis but it can and does in a lot of people!..and for most that achieve this they lead an almost normal life!
Just thought to cheer you up ..it's not always downhill..it can improve significantly in time!
Hi Elric just eat healthy foods keep away from alcohol and exercise if you can is the only advice I can give ..but believe me lots of people that achieve SVR even with cirrhosis can go on to lead perfectly normal lifes as long as you keep yourself healthy!
Studies have shown most people go on to have absolutely no progression in their liver disease if they achieve SVR at the early stages of cirrhosis!
I know of one person who was at end stage liver failure go o to get SVR and reversal of most of his symptoms!
Not to say that some people who were at an advanced state of cirrhosis get this recovery but clearing the virus does stop progression in most people!
Good luck!
