Hi everyone,

Well last week really was the week that kept on giving. Had doctor out MONDAY last week as dads confusion had got considerably worse but doctor didn’t seem TH think anything of it and he seemed HAPPY in himself so let’s not worry!!! Yesterday morning I had phone call from carer and my dad was very confused mumbling and wasn’t with it, so called 111and they were concerned he might of had a stroke as had 2 previously so an ambulance was sent very quickly,

Paramedics came and he was given check over ECG, blood pressure, pulse all ok,They gave him a dementia test and passed that okish. Kept saying it wasn’tthings like that he was getting confused about but no one was listening. Had nurses out for blood test said he was clammy even though his temp was ok but it was lower in one ear was strange and his pulse was high. Bloods came back ok potassium, bilirubin sodium etc. Out of hours doctor had been called previously so he still came at 6.30!in the evening and in examining my dad and listening to his symptoms his diagnosis was bacterial peritonitis as he still has some remaining ascities and proceeded to get him to take some antibiotics straight away. Chills and worsening of confusion are the main symptoms. By this point I was thinking I was going mad myself !!!

I prey to god things start to get a bit better as otherwise I’m going to have a nervous break down !!!

Hi

I'm sorry you are both going through so much at the moment. You just want someone to listen!! You could out in a complaint at his dr's surgery , pals are where you could complain at hospital. I do know what this is like, there have been many times I've been banging my head against the wall in frustration!!my son was very poorly on 2008,Drs wouldn't listen to me until I took hubby with me!! I done a and e as well by this time. Anyway he got him admitted in to a children's ward and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease!! Why wouldn't they listen to me, I knew my son wasn't well!!, Not everybody has got a partner etc to come with them grrr. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi Jo

Maybe it’s time for another chat with the BLT helpline nurse again because he seems to be getting a fair amount of attention but not much in the way of a diagnosis? You said last time, a couple of months ago, they were very helpful.... and nice 👍

Hope you can get some more answers soon, so that you can perhaps put your mind at rest a bit - well a diagnosis sometimes helps in that respect.

Good luck.

Miles
