Just when I think things are about as bad as they can be my dad who had slight confusion has now suddenly developed quite bad HE. I called the doctor out and there is nothing to be done. He said he seems quite happy. He might be I’m not !!! His not sure if it’s day or night. Doesn’t know if his had a carer or not. Small things like remembering to turn tele on have become s mamouth task. To keep an eye on him and if things get worse to phone them. Well end stage cirrhosis really isn’t a barrel of laughs !!!

Hospitals don’t know anything about it !!!!! Or rather they didn’t 5 years ago - often ignoring my husband because he was ‘drunk’ 🤷♀️ He doesn’t drink alcohol his cirrhosis was from hep c and a tattoo when he was a teenager 🤦♀️
And they treated me well and looked after me and I had h.e. Constantly around the same time as your husband
It's dangerous h.e as you know and I was just advising the lady to take him to hospital as it can lead to a coma.... If you have a problem you need to report it to the people who can change it not be angry with someone who actually went through it!!!
I am sorry 😔 I am not at all angry with you in any way and I am sorry you feel that way - I didn’t intend for my comment to upset anyone - it was just my interpretation of ‘A&E - hospital knowledge’ of HE - like I said it may have changed and I am pleased to hear that you received the correct care - unfortunately my husband didn’t - I apologise if you thought that this was personally aimed at you - I just thought it would be ok to add my experience of HE - I apologise 😢
No worries 😘 and I am sorry you're husband and yourself didn't get the best response from the hospital... I do hope you complained though x it's the only way we can change people's responses to this awful disease 🤔
How is your husband? Has he received his transplant? And more importantly how are you?
My heart goes out to you truly. Just a thought, rather than repeatedly trying to explain what's been going on, perhaps you could keep a record via video through a cell phone. You will have an accurate record for future reference ( when I was caring for mum who had dementia I wish I,d thought of doing this, would have saved hours of frustrating repetition with doctors, A and E, social workers etc ) and you can delete the images when no longer needed. But that is for the future, right now great advice above. Please update us when you have the opportunity, my thoughts are with you. X
I take Lactulose since I have a shunt installed in my liver. The idea is not to have any toxins escape into your blood stream. Lactulose helps, also a high fiber diet with probiotic yougurt does not hurt either
Hi
I don't think I can add anything else but wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
