You may or may not remember me from my 9month old post saying I was ready to give up. Unfortunately I ended up in Hospital just before Christmas again. I was in for a week, with my lead Doctor adamant I just had constipation, yep that’s right, constipation.
I quite honestly fully gave up lying in that Hospital bed because after 2 years of constant pain and being constantly ignored by so many doctors, I had no hope left in me.
Then I saw a new Doctor on my second last day and he was quite honestly livid I had been left to rot basically whilst in so much pain. He ordered an immediate MRI, I thought I was dreaming because me and my GP had been begging for an MRI for months.
All it saw was a LOT of inflammation around my liver and a very enlarged bile duct. He wasn’t happy and sent me to a specialist hospital in Glasgow for a special kind of test.
Long story short, I have very tricky gallstones that have essentially scratched up against the inside of my gallbladder and just can’t pass through. I’ve also acquired liver damage, that’s being looked into.
But finally, after literal years of ‘it’s all in your head’ ‘it’s ibs’ ‘You’re too young to get your gallbladder out’ I’m finally getting it out in exactly 11 days!!!
I’m honestly still in complete shock right now but I just wanted to post this here because I know how so many of you have felt utterly hopeless and that you’ll never get answers. Please never give up! Honestly all you need is one right doctor and it can make the world of difference.

That’s great news! No wonder you’re so much in shock!!. Your story gives me some hope that my stomach issue may some day soon be “properly” understood. I was promised an MRI scan and then when the appointment letter arrived it was for a CT scan. No rationale explained to me at all. At last I had the CT scan yesterday. I recognise that MRI scans are good for some problems and CT scans better for others. So not knowing what my problem is - and the Consultants don’t know either - don’t know which scan type is better! Stupid really but I am a little (a lot actually 😁) concerned that the problem will not be found but obviously hope it is 😁. 8 months ongoing now - which is nowhere near your two years!
I hope you finally get the proper help you need Sweetie! I had completely given up after countless ultrasounds, and even being sent to a psychologist once because it was ‘all in my head’ 😢 But Im finally getting somewhere now and I really hope your CT gives you the answers you’re needing xxxx
Oh god thank you for not taking offence!! I forget that it’s sometimes seen as rude to call someone older Sweetie 🙈 it’s just what I call everyone haha.
I really, really hope you don’t. I still blame my kidney Doctor, as I also have PKD, he was the first to say it was all in my head. Due to this, every other Doctor thought the same until I was seen by a psychologist 😩
I reckon - can’t be sure of course 😁 - that the Patient Notes that you can see online for yourself do not show all the data. I think there are some hidden “fields” that only doctors can see which contain personal notes about yourself!
I really hope you get the proper results and get answers. I had a problem for 2 it more years,one consultant saying it was muscular!! I was finally diagnosed in May 2016 with nafld and Nash in November 2016.. finally I had an answer. Love and hugs to. Lynne xxxx
Aah thanks Lynne that’s very kind of you. It’s interesting how some of us have to go through a lot to get to a solution and others seem to get answers straight away 👍. I know that you are still struggling very much though so also hope that you get some solutions soon.

Firstly I'm utterly disgusted at the earlier treatment you received, fuming in fact as I know what the pain is like when your gallbladder is possibly full of gallstones which has now caused all this inflammation and possible damage. By any chance do you know if your having your gallbladder removed by key hole surgery or the old conventional way? If you can in the meantime avoid all fatty foods and drink lots of water and possibly some apple juice too.
After your sucessful op , again avoid all greasy foods, and fats as your liver has to work twice a hard after gallbladder has been removed, mine was removed in October 2016 with dangerous amounts of gallstones which should have been removed in 2007 when first detected but got missed by GP!
Finally I want to wish you all the very best for your op in 11 days time and hopefully your liver will then start to recover.
Unfortunately, for some reason, Doctors just do not want to believe that Gallbladder problems aren’t only for overweight and older people.
They are going to try for keyhole first but due to the inflammation and the current position of my gallbladder it may not be possible to do it via keyhole.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your view, I’m actually very limited to what I can eat anymore. Because of how much pain I’m in and the state of my liver I cannot eat anything solid without (TMI) vomiting constantly. I’ve been living off of liquids for months now.

Im so sorry to read your in so much pain, lets keep our fingers crossed that your pain will ease after op and they'll get your inflammation under control allowing you to smile 😁again.
Feel free to message me any time even if for a moan as I do under stand your inflammation pain as it was only 3 months ago I was in pain with an inflammed Oesophagus which was eventually picked up after the camera down the throat,, I'm fine now!
So sorry to hear this. My cirrhosis is alcohol related, so when I gave up the demon drink good food became very important to me, so having such a restricted diet such as yours. I also have a naughty gall bladder - cholecystitis - and the pain is terrible.

Hi, so pleased you are finally getting treatment. I had emergency gallbladder removal at the beginning of May. I had never had any problems or pain I did know I had gallstones picked up on an X-ray a few years ago for my SI joint. Anyway I had had some tummy pains that ai thought was wind then wham constant pain they tried keyhole and couldn’t so reverted to open removal. My gallbladder had gone behind my liver and adhered to other tissue. Recovery not too bad, wasn’t allowed to drive for 8 weeks. Feel great now as I am sure you will too. As already advised avoid fatty and spicy foods. Take care
Best thing ever to be rid of an angry gallbladder .Everybody is a little different on recovery. I do eat better for general healthy reasons ,but still can eat bacon or sausage on occasion without difficulty. Cheers to a speedy recovery and a pain free existence. By the way, The surgery generally is not complicated. My recovery was about 2 weeks. Good Luck!
