Hi folks. I've just left the clinic with a fibroscan score of 6.1 and a CAP score of 230. The lady administrating the scan didn't seem too concerned. I cleaned up my diet 6 weeks ago, stopped drinking alcohol, lost weight and exercise a few times a week. I am utterly clueless when it comes to Fibroscan scores and thought you guys might answer a few questions for me.
1. Are my scores OK? What do they mean?
2. Can I get them lower?
3. Should I be concerned? I'm terrified.
Reading through all your posts here has touched me deeply. The courage, support, goodness, hope and knowledge is wonderful.
Thank you

We are not medically qualified to give advice on test results, but it sounds like you ar makin great efforts to improve your liver. You must ask your consultant on your next appt, make notes of all questions so you dont forget anything .It can be administered by a nurse in some places so they are not qualified either to comment. Keep up your good efforts Hazel xx
Hi Radnor. Thanks for your reply and words of encouragement. They mean a lot. I'm so nervous
Why did you have the fibroscan in the first place it must be looked at with other tests but I'm will to bet most people on this site would love to have your score.
Hi Boone. Thanks for replying, it means a lot. I referred myself for one. I stopped drinking 6 weeks ago to the day and cleaned up my diet/life. I thought it would be a good time to get a fibroscan. I'll get my blood test results tomorrow also.
Hi, it’s lower than mine! Amazing what a healthy diet and exercise will do. My score has lowered and My consultant expects it to lower more and I did it by losing weight with a healthy lifestyle, exercise and diet. I don’t drink. You have to think of it as a lifestyle choice, make the changes and get the results, well done and keep it up, Owlie
Hi Olwie. I lost about a stone in weight and pretty much have up sugar and junk food. I stopped drinking completely after a particularly bad hangover that lasted a week and haven't looked back. I'm determined to exercise and stay healthy and not go back to my old ways. Great news about your score, and hoping it keeps going down
Just came across your message! I ust wanted to wish you all the very best with your healthy eating and exercise!
Over the last 18 months I've almost lost 3 stone by just doing the above and my bloods have improved too! I now have more energy which is a wonderful thing to have a 67!
Take care my friend and please keep us all updated on your progress
Hermoine, thank you for this chart. I'd like to know something that is blurry on mine. If you come back here, can you tell me what it says under "Alcoholic Liver Disease" (far right column at top...does it say 12.5 kPA suggests Cirrhosis if Abstinent"....those last two words are pretty blurry...does it say "If Abstinent"? I've not seen this chart....very helpful, thank you for posting!
Hi all, I'm brand new to the forum (just joined today). I live in the US. Can someone explain or translate a fibroscan and CAP score. I haven't heard of those tests.
Over here I have have had an ultrasound, MRI, and nuclear medicine Liver spleen scan. None had a score associated with them, just a limited written report of findings.
Shavedgoat, great work on all of your healthy choices! Don't get discouraged. I hope things improve for you.
