Painfully coloniscopy

Like many others here, had colonoscopy with 37.5 fentanyl and 2mg mudazopan.Awake all the way through, and told the endoscopist how painfull it was, he didn't even answer, and I was ignored.I had the same procedure some years ago with no sedation and yes it was uncomfortable, with one stab of pain, but nothing like this.I think they are definitely cutting down on the meds in a bid to save money, silly really as any worse and I would have asked them to stop and had an alternative procedure(more expense).

A lot depends on who is on the other end of the scope, some are better than others at it !

Had 2 last year, having had one previously with mild sedation and no pain.

First, in Sept was so painful. 90 mins of pain and humiliation where procedure failed, my alleged poor preparation being blamed.

Next, in October, was really careful with prep, drinking disgusting salty citrusy stuff. Still pretty painful and they gave up as my guts were so fragile that they kept bleeding whenever they touched them. Had gastroscopy at same time, didn’t use enough sedation and couldn’t get thru all the twists in my guts. Nightmare.

True story

I told my Dr that I react violently to pain and ONE of us is going to be asleep during a colonoscopy!

He made sure it was me!

Thanks for all your experiences, knowing it happens to others helps, but have complained anyway, there is no excuse not to give adequate sedation/pain relief.
