Acute hepatitis recovery

Hello all, I was diagnosed with acute viral hepatitis (non A or E) three months ago after feeling nauseous and generally unwell and my pee being a lot darker than usual. My scores were high (ALT >1600 Bilirubin 122). I went to the liver specialist two months ago (by which time ALT was mid 900 and bilirubin 60) and he said that I should feel better by now and the scores should be back to normal.

This hasn't been the case and the ALT and Bilirubin have crept back up (1129 and 76) I feel better than I did but still under the weather.

Is this common in acute hepatitis? The specialist said they'd consider a biopsy if things hadn't gone back to normal. Getting the blood results back and seeing them going in the wrong direction has been quite dispiriting!

Hi

I really feel for you. They should definitely do biopsy so you know exactly what is going on. Please take care Lynne

There must have been a relapse if it’s Hepatitis A. How are you now? How’s your biopsy?
