Hi to all and thxs for reading. I have liver chirossis for few years now but last year I had two major bleeds in which I was in a coma for a while. But now 2019 I have had np bleeds since Nov 2018.

What I want to ask is has anyone flown or driven to Europe for a break

I love to go but hubby is worried 're bleeding

Hospitals and the ever expensive insurance cover

So having to stay in the UK

Whilst he does the holiday bit with the boys or on his own

Does anyone know what I could do

Would be great for peeps to have a liver specialist place to go.

With the Brexit situation, there is no idea about the validity of the EHIC. Private insurance is available and there are specialist company’s that can be found following this link:-

I would discuss this with the doctors, I do not think that flying is a good idea regarding the bleeding, they will advise you.

Mark.

Good luck with everything.

If you are in Surrey the South Coast and the Isle of Wight are lovely. I was on a transplant list for 19 months, so further travel was a no.

Good luck and put your health first.

Mark.

I should be in Bali now on a three week holiday 😎 but on advice I cancelled it due to the long flights and poor health care in Bali. I have early esophageal varaces and have not had any bleeds but I decided not to risk it. We're going to Budapest in October as it's a short flight and we're going to Oxford for a couple of nights then on to torquay for 5 nights. I really hope to go to Singapore at some stage but the long flight isn't an option. We will have to look out for a last minute cruise at a bargain basement price 😄

Bali is only up the road from me. I’ve never been there. Too many Australians there apparently 😂

We were on a cruise last year and met a lovely couple who live in Perth. Ann is originally from Sheffield and emigrated to oz 50+years ago. Yudi her husband is balinese. We were going to meet up with them in bali. They were in Bali when the earthquakes happened last year and they said all the patients were being brought out of the hospital into the street as the hospital was collapsing. We desperately want to visit Singapore and Tokyo and have seen a cruise which does this but I'll discuss travelling abroad with my new hepatologist at the end of the month. I'd also like to travel round Australia as I lived in Melbourne as a child. I do feel that I should do things whilst I can rather than giving up now.

I would if I were you. Get a cruise from Singapore to Sydney then spend three weeks in Australia. You always have all inclusive if you stay with us in Cairns.

Insurance for a cruise might be very expensive!

Insurance for 2 weeks in India was cheaper that a week around the Canaries.

I have "barely visible" varices but having to declare it hits the insurance hard.

Hi, I had to cancel a trip to Canada, to visit relatives, but the insurance for 2 weeks was more than the flights ( my wife is now going on her own). Like Roy 1955, I have 2 small varices, but have never had a bleed. I am waiting for the outcome of brexit before booking a EU holiday, because the EHIC card won't be valid. Healthcare on a cruise is just a expensive as for US/Canada, so be careful.

My advice is going to look really bad, but its only from me I don't condone what im saying.

Ive got upper and lower varices and been told im dying. Ive checked the Maldives and Vegas off my bucket list bleeding. No extra insurance, im still here. Went to Spain and was ill but im still here. I don't let it stop me. Got no money to go anywhere now, spent it after being told I was dying. Family wasn't happy but I just said 'feed me to the sharks or chuck my ashes up a cactus'.

I am quite ill now so wouldn't be able to do it anyway but sure glad I risked it when I could.
