Poo question

With lactulose, are you supposed to have just runny soft poo or diarrhoea?

I’ve had full on diarrhoea for four days now along with a lung infection. Or chest infection?

Cheers,

Me!

Hey up me

I don’t remember specifically having diarrhoea to be honest. I think it varied 😁. But hey ho lactulose eventually stopped doing anything for me then it was self help enemas ☹️.

Do you think it could be connected to your lung infection, for me, (yes me, not the royal me, actually me, not you) that seemed to be the case somtimes.

Trouble seems to follow me around, or is that me or bertha, or me or para or me or bob or....

(Apologies to snoutie for copying his obtuse 😁 style of posts.... 😁)

Oh dear, the anti b's can really clear you out!! I was once on a very hefty dose after nearly bleeding to death following a pancreatic biopsy during a laparoscopy. I ended up having 3 operations in two days!! So they gave me anti b's. When my husband collected me after 2 weeks in hospital I had a very nervous journey home, every bump threatened the integrity of my anal sphincter!!! You'll be pleased to hear I made it to the toilet, well, just about?

Keep an eye on that chest, don't let it go on too long, you might not be on the right antibiotics for that bug.

Wassy hugs to you and Bertha x x

Lactulose is meant to just loosen it enough to avoid you having to strain

TMI Brett. 😁 can you take pro biotics like Yakult? they are supposed to reintroduce good bacteria into your gut which the antibiotics have killed off.

LActulose did nothing for me but maybe a couple small bouts of diarrhoea. AFter that my Dr. ordered GaviLyte-C. I have been up for 2 days now with nothing but water in my stools. Tomorrow I will have an upper colon cleanse against my Dr's orders. She told me to get some excersize. That's not an option at this point. I need some fast relief so the UCC is the way to go!

Yuk Lactulose I had to take it 4 times a day for 2 years. I hope I never have to take it again. It softens the stool and helps you go...😉

Hospital told us lactilose is to loosen your bowels and laxido is to soften them, I would just take less.

If the hospital thinks its caused by antibiotics they should have done a stool test to rule out C.diff!

If it's not eased up go back and demand a test.

If its positive and they try and palm you off with metronidazol refuse it. (useless)

Fidaxomycin is the latest (expensive) medication for c.diff, or 2nd choice vancomycin.

Thanks for that Roy.

You learn something new every day.

Hi Roy

I believe you live in UK?

Pray tell, how do you demand a test? If you even ask for one, let alone “demand” one, then, around my way - Derby - you will get - how can I politely say this, umm ignored!

I can demand tests in Australia but I have to justify why I want it. Then the doctor agrees or tells me why not. I always say that there is no harm in asking.

Ta,

Brett

WOW!! Poo 💩 is popular now 😂 😂

NHS has to report c.diff so they avoid testing.

If you have classic symptoms following antibiotic treatment they are supposed to test.

If you are seen to be knowlagable about it and know their own guidlines they have no option (unless they are willing to risk a compo claim for neglect).

Source of my info.

I am admin on the American c.diff group.

I have Been on BBC News at 10 and SKY news about this.

Marched on parliment, presented petition to No 10.

Was part of the UK group that raised awareness and made them spend mega money cleaning hospitals.

Hi it works differently for each individual I for one sound a bit like you one sniff of the bottle and I’m going for a week, but my wife and son who both suffer with IBS can drink it like orange juice and take them a week to go. I would say it’s a little trial an error, take a little less and see , talk to your doctor.

Good luck Dogbot

Well,

9 days and still got lung infection. One trip to hospital got more antibiotics. One house call doctor. More antibiotics. That makes 8 antibiotics in 9 days.

Grumble grumble @@&@& snowflakes 😂
