We've just got home from seeing the Jersey Boys. It was fantastic but the first half was agony for me. The palace theatre in Manchester is a Victorian building with very steep stairs and no handrails. I was sat behind a man who must have been 7 feet tall who was sat behind another man who must have been 7 feet tall too. I couldn't see anything and because the seat rows are so narrow I was in agony...sheer misery. Luckily the rows at the sides were almost empty so we swapped seats at the intermission. No one in front or to the side of us, bliss. I could actually see the whole stage. Walking down the stairs was the usual embarrassing situation, one step at a time with people behind me. The one consolation was I actually stayed awake😁 when we went to see the cursed child I slept most of the way through it 😴 thank god for iron tablets!

I know what you mean, I think we were in the gods when we went and I don't like heights!! So pleased you could swap seats and that you could enjoy the second half. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Looks like we're both still awake at turned 1am again 😴 hope you get some sleep soon. Deb x
Thanks, hope you do too.
Went to see my consultant, he said there's nothing he can do right now unless I go worse. Hes sending me to wythenshaw to some pain fella who will put electrodes in me. He said I will see you in a year to which I said if I feel any worse I will phone your secretary who is very good!!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hi GrandmaDylan, I so so understand every word you have written, I could have written it myself. I love the theatre and going to the cinema, and I end up struggling, falling asleep, and in agony generally, especially the following day, so the show has to be good and worth it! We are all so different and yet our daily struggles are similar, almost identical. My own personal moral is, whilst I can, go for it, live life, don't stay at home regretting not going or doing something. Glad you liked what you saw of Jersey Boys, so uplifting. K
Yes, that's true it certainly has to be worth it. I'm only 5 foot 2! My son's pat me on the head now!!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
yes, something else we have in common - 5 ft 2!
Ha ha!! I used to day I'm 5ft 2 and a tea leaf!!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
How are you after your night out Grandma Dylan? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
I'm 5 foot 2 too. I've been in a lot of pain today, everything hurts. We went to see early doors at the lowry last year and although we lived the series and the stage show was brilliant it was spoiled by being in pain. It puts me off going to the theatre. Xx
I know what you mean, it's horrible being in pain . Hope you feel better soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
We also went to see Jersey Boys earlier this month. Also saw it a couple of years ago. The deep voiced actor was the same both times, but the other main characters were different and not as good in my opinion. I know what you mean about the stairs but my biggest bugbear is the lack of leg room in the circle or above. Also know what you mean about falling asleep. Sometimes I'm persuaded to see something that I'm not really interested in and I get bruised ribs from the odd elbow if I'm snoring.
At least you can see all the stage from the Palace and Opera house (assuming no seven footers sat in front). We went to see some Shakespeare in Stratford last year. Couldn't get seats together, so I was sat a couple of rows back from the wife and near the end of a row, I could not see all the stage because of theatre structure in the way. Luckily (?) the seat next to my wife was unoccupied, so I managed to move during the interval. Don't think I'll bother with Stratford again. If anyone else is thinking of going you definitely need to be in the middle of a row in front of the stage, not at the edge like I was.
Les Mis at the end of this month. "Bring him home" always makes me cry.
Hi. Sorry you had so much pain but pleased you did enjoy it. I know what you mean about 1 step at a time and no handrail. I don't have as much pain but have vertigo and need to hang onto something!! Had the tall guys in front when I went to see my youngest grandsons Xmas performance. My son and I couldn't see too well but thankfully ' mum' had a better view. And falling asleep... I went to the last Harry potter film with my daughter a good few years ago after a hard day at work. I was nodding off all the way through, couldn't tell you anything about it. Well I wasn't a fan anyway and never had watched any of the other films in the series either. Just keeping my daughter company or not! Still I'm sure it picks us up to go somewhere different now and again, good for the soul. Hope you're feeling at least a little better now.
