An isolated raised GGT is not enough to indicate anything with any kind of specificity or sensitivity. The whole clinical picture is needed for that.
A good start would be to turn off caps lock.
That isnt fair.it may be somebody who is not very good with keyboards.anyway what does it matter if in caps if the person is looking for some help?
Freddie,
I am challenged on the tech ability front. Bold reads as SHOUTY, you will get more people to listen in lower case. Everyone here is willing to help, it was well intentioned advice.
Mark
Sorry but a newbie posting and looking for advice would be immediately turned off by reading that comment.
If that was how it was intended then the reply should have been a bit softer than it was.
Freddie,
No problem at all, it will help you with answers. It is a struggle for all of us. You can find excellent advice on the Liver Trust website and they have a helpline.
I am sure somebody will know about a reading of 108, I was diagnosed with end stage decompensated cirrhosis, so specific numbers were irrelevant to me. I needed a transplant, which I received after a long wait, due to my blood group. Good luck and stay positive, take the doctors advice.
Mark
Hya Mark, ope ur ok. I d jus like to ask what blood group are you? I don t need a Xplant jus yet, but it s good to kno for future ref.
I am Rh Neg (O neg) .
Thanks

Dear Hidden
Firstly do not stress about your GGT levels. My first high level GGT was years ago at 97 when all others tests were fine like yours.
After a routine blood test last July revealed my GGT had increased 147 along with others bloods which indicating I may have PBC !
After numerous monthly blood tests , 2 CT's , a Fibroscan , Colonoscopy , cystopscopy and various ultrasounds they still have not found the cause. Last week I had an MRI of my bile duct and pancreas which I'm waiting results on. I have various on and off bouts of pains under ribs to the left and right and in my back and side. Nausea now and then. Two weeks ago I had the worse toothache pain in my upper gut ever which lasted for about two weeks. For some reason that has now settled down which is good news, however the MRI happened after the discomfort had gone. Errrrr.
All I'm trying to say is don't stress, let your GP decide on whether more blood tests or furtger investigations are required or not!
Eat healthy and exercise in the mean time. If you like a drink try to cut this down or out totally as sometimes drink and fatty food can alter blood readings.
Take care Hidden
